Warsaw Radio Says Poland -
Is Fighting Anti-Semitisms

LONDON (JTA) — The at-
tacks against anti-Semitism
which appeared in the Soviet
Communist Party organ "Party
Life" have been closely followed
by a Warsaw broadcast which
quoted Polish spokesman as hav-
ing told youth delegates from
foreign countries that "Poland is
fighting against anti-Semitism
and manifestations of it are pun-
ishable." the World Jewish Con-
gress reported.
In answer to the question,
"Does one come across anti-Semi-
tic moods here in Poland?" the
spokesman replied, "Yes, one
does." He - addressed about 700
Jewish youth delegates from all
parts of the world who met with
representatives of Jewish organ-
izations in Warsaw, after attend-
ing a youth festival in the Polish
capital.
When the spokesman, - Shimon
Zakharias, was asked whether
the Jews of Poland enjoyed equal
rights, he replied that he need
not even answer the question be-
cause the - delegates could -see for
themselves that Jews enjoyd full
rights. The best proof of that,
he continued, was the existence
of a Yiddish theatre, a • Yiddish
newspaper, Jewish organizatiokis
and the fact that the radio had
daily Yiddish transmissions.
