Rulers; Hint at an 'Invasion'
LONDON (JTA)—The Egyp,
tan regime of Col. Gamal .Abdel,
Nasser celebrated the third anni-
versary of the military coup
which unseated King Farouk with
a parade and threats to invade
Israel: . The most blatant threat
was made by Mar: Gen. Abdel
Hakim Amer, Minister of War
and c ommande r-in-chief of
Egypt's armed forces, who threat-
ened the invasion if it becomes
necessary to "maintain peace by
force," according to dispatches
from the Egyptian capital.
Addressing a huge mass meet-
ing to which Chief Rabbi Haim
Nahum and other Egyptian
Jewish leaders had been invited ;
P.r e m i e r Nasser pledged his
armies to defend "the whole
Arab world" against- "Israel ag-
gression." He 'a sserted that
"Palestine was the most horrible
international crime in history."
He told the 40,000 persons in
the audience that Zionism was
not alone in - responsibility for

British government turned over
to Egypt two destroyers early
this,month. The destroyers were
built at the end of World War II
and never saw war action. Two

New Syrian Attack
•TEL AVIV (JTA)—A two-day
battle between Syrians and Is-
raelis in which a number of
houses were hit in the Israel
settlement of Hagovrim, came to
an end when United Nations •ob-
servers on the Syrian side forced
the Syrians to halt their fire. No
Jewish casualties were reported.

New Incentives for Investors
Are Introduced by Israel
New tax benefits, conversion
privileges, and other incentives
for foreign investors have been
introduced by Israel in ra bid to
accelerate the influx of capital in-
to the rapidly expanding econ-
omy of the country, it was an-
nounced by Meir Sherman, Ec-
onomic Minister of Israel in the
U.S.
The new incentives became law
in the -form of an Amendment to
the. Law for the Encouragement
of Capital Investments- just pass-
ed by the Knesset (Israel's Parli-
ment).
The amendment law reduces,
in effect, income taxes paid by
corporations from -50 per cent to
25 per cent.
Loans given for periods of 'at
least 10 years are eligible for
consideration as approved invest-
ments under the amendment. Also
eligible are commercial, industrial
and other buildings.

groom, a Detroit law school grad
uate, is the son of Mr. Morris
Borden, of Tyler 'Ave., and the
late Mrs. Dora Borden.

the bride who carried a nose gay
of white orchids. Mrs. Mollie
Rosen was matron of honor, and
Saul Borden was his brother's

The couple left for a honey-

Campaign Raises $1,563,279
for American Reform Judaism
The Combined Campaign for
American Reform Judaism raised
a total of $1,563,279 during the
year ending July 1 to meet the
maintenance needs of the Union
of American Hebrew Congrega-
tions and We Hebrew- UniOn Col-
lege-Jewish Institute of Religion,
it was announced by Dr. Samuel
S. Hollender of Chicago, general
chairman of the nationwide drive
for Reform Jewish institutions.
Dr. Hollender noted that the
total of $1,563,279 for 1954-55
represented an increase of $119,-
679 more than was realized last
year for the maintenance needs
of the national religious institu-
tions of American Reform Juda-
ism.
