Mr. and Mrs. Israel Burnstein, of Collingwood Ave., have re-
turned on the U. S. S. United States from a three-month Euro-
pean tour. The highpoint of their trip was an eight-week stay
in Israel with family and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph B. Snyder, of Marlowe Avenue, enter-
tained at a dinner party, June 17, at Sid's Cafe, honoring their
son, Arthur Hervey, upon his graduation from Wayne University
College of Medicine. Among the out of town guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Snyder, of Springfield, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Belsky and daughters, Cynthia, and Arlene of Holyoke, Mass., and
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Snyder, grandparents of the doctor.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel R. Greenbaum, of Oakman Blvd., have
just returned 'aboard the SS United States from a six-week visit
to Europe and Israel. The Greenbaum's son, Gilbert, stationed
with the armed forces in France, accompanied his parents through
England, Switzerland and Italy.

At a recent dinner-dance held at Turover Temple, Mr. and
Mrs. Abraham Lusky, of Otsego Ave., honored their daughter,
Helen Louise, on her 16th birthday. There were 115 guests who
attended the sweet sixteen party, including Helen's host, Allen
Menuck, and her two hostesses Ceryle Klaper and Margie Serlin
and their dates, Donnie Allowitz and Abe Selesny.

No Jews Among U.S. GIs
Remaining in Red China

NEW YORK, (JTA) —There
were no Jews among the Ameri-
can war prisoners who preferred
remaining in Communist China
rather than return to the United
States, it is established in
"Twenty-one Stayed," a book
written by Virginia. Pasley, for-
mer American war correspon-
dent.
The author states that of the
3,746 American captives released
on an exchange basis, 21 pre-
ferred staying in China. Of the
various denominations, writes
Miss Paisley, "16 are Protestants,
four are Roman Catholic, one is
a Greek Catholic; there are no
Jews."

Gov. Williams to Speak At Baiiai Brith Parley

The 87th annual convention of
District Grand Lodge No. 6, Bnai
Brith, will be held in Chicago's
Sherman Hotel, starting Satur-
day evening and running
through Tuesday night.
More than 1,000 delegates are
expected. They will represent
194 lodges with a membership
of 47,000 men, and 101 chapters
with a membership of 26,000
women. The delegates will come
from eight states and four prov-
inces of Canada.
On Saturday night, Philip M.
Klutznick, world president of
Bnai Brith. will report on his re-
cent visit to 36 communities in
Europe and, 26 communities in
Israel, where he met with the
world leaders of Jewry.
Klutznick also will report on
the United Nations conference
of non-governmental agencies
at Geneva, where he was co-
chairman of the Co-ordinating

nick will present a special Su-

Paula Sheila Stern became the
bride of Jack Strickstein in a re-
cent double-ring ceremony at
Beth Aaron Synagogue, at which
Rabbi Benjamin H. Gorrelick of-
ficiated under a chupah decor-
ated with pink and white flow-
ers.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer M. Stern,
of Franklin Fairway. The bride-
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Hyman Forman, of Manor Ave.
The bride wore a traditional
floor-length gown of organdy,
embroidered with roses. The Ju-
liet cap of embroidered organdy
was edged in seed pearls, and
held in place her fingertip veil
of illusion. She carried a bou-
quet of white roses and orchids.
Ruth Patterson was maid of
honor, and Mrs. Blanche Rich
was matron of honor. Attending
as her bridesmaids were Leatrice
Forman, of Cleveland, 0., Rusty
Strickstein, Mignon Cohen and
Elaine Tanzeman, and Marie Sue
Weiss was flower girl.
Irving Strickstein was the
bridegroom's best man, and ush-
ers were Ben Rich, Hyman Deal,
Arnold Hirsch and Herb Good-
win. Bernard Stern was junior
usher. Also in the procession
were the bride's grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Morris L. Stern
and Mr. Abraham Shore, accom-
panied by Mrs. Sam Becker, of
San Francisco, Calif.
Following dinner and a recep-
tion, the couple left for their
honeymoon, after which they
will take up residence in Detroit.

To Address Jewish Group

LONDON, (JTA) — Marlene
Dietrich, the film and night
club star, who refused to at-
tend a premiere of a film based
on the life of Richard Tauber
because it was made in Germany
with German actors, agreed to
address a luncheon here in be-
half of the Israel Institute of
Technology. The premiere which
