Conservative Leaders
At Regional Parley

The Michigan Region of the
United Synagogue of America,
overall organization of U. S.
conservative congregations, will
hold its annual all-day confer-
ence, June 26, at Cong. Bnai
Moshe,. Detroit, it was an-
nounced by Max Biber, presi-
dent of the region.
The theme of the conference
- will be "And Youth Shall Lead
the. Way," the keynote address
to be delivered by Irving Giles,
chairman of the Metropolitan
Youth Commission of the
United Synagogue of America.
The conference will feature a
morning session on the topic
"After 13 What?" with T.
George Sternberg, of. the Jewish
Community - Association, Bay
City, as speaker.
The luncheon session and
two additional panel, sessions in
the afternoon will discuss "The
Teen Ager in the Synagogue,"
and "The Young Adult in the
Synagogue Family." Speakers
will be Miss Donna Hammer-
of Adas Shalom, Detroit, and
Seymour Rappaport, of Ahavas
Israel, -Grand Rapids.
A final session, concluding eve-
services will be addressed
by Rabbi Jacob M. Chiriltz, of
Cong. Ahavas Achim, Detroit, on
"Prospects for the Future."
Participating in the program,.

day, from the Wayne University
college of engineering. With a
3.5 scholastic average, out of a
possible 4.0, he was first in his

Mumford Parents Plan Graduation Reception

Mrs. Herbert Katzen, wife of
the preSident-elect of the Mum-
ford Parents Club, is in charge
of a committee of the organiza-
tion which is planning a senior
reception to folloW graduation
exercises at 10 a.m., Wednesday,
Mumford High School.
The invocation at commence-
ment exercises will be delivered
by Rabbi Jacob Chinitz, of Cong.
Ahavas Achim, and senior
speakers will be Lorraine Small
and Bruce Parker. Seniors, theit
parents and faculty members
are invited to the recvtion.
The Pink Fantasy Prom is the.

second graudation, event, and
will be held at 9 p.m., June 24,
at the Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel.
Dave Martin's Orchestra, with
Jan Wynn as soloist, will play
for dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Salesin head the committee of
MPC chaperones.
Mrs. Byron Coats, outgoing
president, announces that corn-
bined efforts of students, facul-
ty, friends and the MPC have
provided the band with uni-
forms. The maroon and blue
uniforms will be worn in the
fall.

Rosen, an electrical engineer,
will specialize in communica-
tions. He attended Wayne on
two scholarships, the Sigma
Alpha Mu and. Board of Educa-
tion scholarships, and was
elected to Tau Beta Pi, national
engineering honor fraternity.

31. Local Leaders Win
Human ,Relations Awards

Among the 31 Michigan' teach-
ers, police officers and commu-
nity leaders who will study hu-
man relations this summer on
scholarihips provided by the Ed-
gar DeWitt Jones fund of the
Detroit Round Table are Mrs.
Ruth Gussin, 24210 Gardner, Oak
Park, and Miss. Edna-Tobin, kin-
dergarten teacher at Winterhal-
ter School.
Among those contributing to
the scholarship fund, which pro-
vided for 17 of the 31 scholar-
ships, are Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Friedman.
The workshops, two to six
week study periods in methods
of building inter-group har-
mony, will be held at the Uni
versity of Michigan, Wayne Uni-
versity and University of Detroit,
