The $250 -Daroff Memorial Fiction Award went to 'Louis Zara, for his novel "Blessed. Is the Land" (New York, Crown Publishers). The $250 Siegel Memorial Award for 1954's best Jewish juvenile in English was given to Nora Benjamin Kubie, for. her "King Solomon's. Navy" (New York, Harper and Brothers). Gelber, president of the Zionist Organi- zation of Canada, as well as members of the Cabinet and the University faculty. Funds for construction of the building were raised by the Canadian Zionist Women's Organization, the Ha- dassah-WIZO. (Canadian Hadassah celebrat- ed the dedication of the new building with a special cere- mony at McGill University in Montreal. Dr. Cyril James, principal of McGill, and Pro- fessors D. L. Thompson and J. Quastel participated and paid tribute to the Hebrew Uni- versity and Cahadian Hadassah. Mrs. William Riven, national vice-president of t h e women's group, presented a number of citations.) The cornerstone for a build- ing for the Hebrew Language Academy will be laid within the next two months. Prof. A. Tur- sinai said that construction of the building, which will be com- pleted within a year, was made possible by a $50,000 contribu- tion by William Salzman of New York.
