open officially Monday evening,
at 18041 Wyoming, with a recep-
tion and exhibition of the works
of 10 New York artists.
The gallery is directed by Mrs.
Marvin Bruck and Mrs. Samuel
Field, who plan to bring to De-
troit the works of America's best

Among the artists represented
in the first show are Edith Bry,
Harold B 1 a c k. May Heilc•ms,
Howard Baer, George Haber-
gritz, Dorothy Hoyt, Rose Kuper,
Peter Ostruni, A. Tubis and Rob-
ert Borgata.

Spearheaded by a gift of $10,-
000 from Alan Harlan, Detroit
industrialist, a group of Detroit-
ers this week donated the sum
of $21,000 towards the Protest-
ant Chapel at Brandeis Univer-
sity, Waltham, Mass.
This Chapel will be one of
three for the three major faiths

Negev. Mrs. Katchke, who has
now returned, was a mem-
ber of the leadership delegation
of Israel Bond women who spent
two weeks touring the Jewish
state, witnessing its progress
and conferring with government

At the present rate of progress,
cornerstone laying ceremonies
for. the new Labor Zionist Cen-
ter on Schaefer, north of Seven
Mile Rd., will be held early next
month, according to an an-
announcement made by Labor
Zionist leaders this week.
Following ground breaking
ceremonies March 20, members
of the building committee, under
the chairmanship of Morris L.
Schaver, have sparked an in-
tensive campaign among the
various groups comprising the
Detroit Labor Zionist- movement!
to raise funds for the structure. 1
Several Farband and Poale
Zion branches hav,e nearly com-
pleted their portion of the cam-
paign, and Pioneer Women's
chapters have scheduled "build-
ing meetings" in the coining
weeks to bolster their campaign
contributions.
The new center is designed
to provide for future expansion
as well as to meet current de-
mands. Classes of the United
Jewish Folks Schools, Habonim
youth meeting rooms and a large_
auditorium are only a few fea-
tures of the new, modern struc-
ture.
