I work in factories—aft kinds of factories. I make steel, cars, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, rubber. I make furniture and other wood products, and I'm a metal worker, too. I work in the big plants, on the big lines, and I work in the thousands of small ones—the ones that keep the big shops going. I'm on Michigan's hug* industrial payroll, and doing right well at it. I'm a farmer, too—one of the men who keeps Michigan near the top in farm crop dollar-value. I'm the world's best grain grower, for I've brought more international grain champion- ships to Michigan in recent years than any other state caw boast. Michigan's one of the top states in production of fruits, grains, sugar beets, dairy products, potatoes and beans. I'm a miner, a quarryman, a shovel operator. Nature put resources under Michigan's soil so I can remove them, turn them over to industry to make the great products of Michigan. 1 mine salt, iron, copper; 1 bring out magnesium and gypsum; I quarry limestone, and I scoop tons of gravel for construction. I'm a lumberjack in the tall timber, and I'm a seaman on the long ships. And whatever my job, I need water to keep me going, and Michigan certainly has plenty of water. I've all the gas and electricity 1 need for heat and light and power, and always will have. I'm a seasonal guy, myself. I like cold winters, with snow for skiing and tobogganing, ice for skating and ice-fishing. I like colorful autumn and fresh-green spring, because I'm a hunter and a fisherman. And, brother, do I like loafing on a warm, sandy beach beside our many lakes. But, I am also a host to Leon Kay in Israel For Technion Parley Leon Kay, of Detroit, is cur- rently in Israel where he will attend the three-day annual meeting of the international board of governors of Technion, Israel Institute of Technology at Haifa. Leaders of the national board, American Teohnion Society, who will join Kay for the discussions from May 23 to 25 will be J. W. Wunsch, society presi- dent, Elias Fife, chairman of the national board, Charles R. Adel- son, Benjamin Cooper, J. R. Elyachar, Harry F. Fishbach, Charles Frost, Alexander Konoff and David Rose. Wunsch said that Technion currently is building a new cam- pus on Mount Carmel, and that the first completed structure, the aeronautical engineering building, is being utilized by several departments because the existing campus has an overflow of students. He said that three other structures will be completed be- fore the end of this year. These are the electrical engineering building, the Albert Einstein In- stitute of Physics and the stu-. dent dormitories. "We go to Haifa,” Mr. Wunsch said, "to lend whatever wisdom we posess to help solve Tech- nion's problems. As Israel's sole source of engineers, Technion must be given every possible as- sistance in its task of providing the technical manpower so es- sential in Israel's diversified program of development." /2 -tADEVZOIT itYitSH NEWS Friday, May 13, 1955 5,000,000 tourists a year, a big business.
