Mrs. Sam Greenfield, of Atlantic City, Mrs. Joseph Leib, of Los
Angeles, Dr. and Mrs. Philip Katz and son, Gary, of Toledo, and
Mrs. Justin Sillman, of Columbus, 0.
Rev. and Mrs. Jacob Silverman are residing temporarily at
3208 Cortland, following their return from a winter vacation in
Miami Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Max Breslauer, of Washington, D.C., national president of
Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, stopped in Detroit on her tour of Phi
Sigma chapters throughout the nation, to view rushing activities
of Wayne University's Beta Lambda Chapter. Mrs. Breslauer was
entertained by local sorority members at a party in the home of
Miss Dorothy Caplan, of Lauder Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Raphael Steel, of London, England, are visiting
in Detroit with Mr. Steel's brothers and sister, Louis Steel, of 13750
Vassar; Oscar Steel, of 4045 Glendale; and_ Mrs. Max Berris, of 2921
Sturtevant. Another sister, Mrs. Ida Gold, of New York, also is
here to celebrate a reunion of the family, which has not been to-
gether since 1911. During the three weeks of their stay here, num-
bers of parties will be given in - honor of the Raphael Steels.
Morris Stolsky this week announced the change of his name to
Stol. Mr. and Mrs. Stol and family have moved to 10233 Curtis.
Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Marcus, of
2'750 Sturtevant, joinea in celebrating the couple's 50th wedding
anniversary_ on May 5, at a reception given by their daughter, Mrs.
Peter P. Gilbert, of 17655 Manderson. Besides Mrs. Gilbert, the Mar-
cuses have two sons, Mr. 0. A. Marcus and Mr. J. D. Marcus.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Garber, of 3205 Tyler, will celebrate their
25th wedding anniversary at a dinner Sunday, at the Stockholm.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Light, of Clements Ave., recently drove to
New York to meet Mrs. Light's mother, Mrs. A. Lancet, who arrived
on the Queen Elizabeth from Glasgow, Scotland. Mrs. Lancet
plans to spend six months here, during which she will stay with
her daughters, Micki and Faye Lancet, of Santa Rosa Ave. Mrs.
Lancet last visited here in 1953 when she spent three months with
her family and friends.
On May 1, a surprise party was given for Dr. and Mrs. Samuel
Freid, of 17537 Parksite, at Carl's Chop House, in honor of the
couple's 20th wedding anniversary. The small, family gathering
was attended by relatives from Owosso, Saginaw, Bay City and
Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Silverston, former Detroiters now of Miami,
Fla., recently were installed as commander and president of Coral
Gables Post and Auxiliary, Jewish War Veterans. The Silverstons
await the arrival of their Detroit friends in JWV at the forthcom-
ing national convention in Miami Beach next fall.
Mr. Abram Hoptman, of San Juan Dr., left last Wednesday
aboard the S. S. United States for Southampton, England. After a
brief visit in London, Mr. Hoptman will fly to Israel for a seven
week stay. He will return home late in July after again stopping
in London to visit relatives.
