the organization voted $100 to
the Allied Jewish Campaign and
$25 to the Haven Farm for men-
tally retarded children.

Bond Scroll in Israel

Planned for September
Mrs. Joseph Katchke, chair-
man of the Detroit Women's Di-
vision, State of Israel Bonds, who
is currently in Israel with a del-
egation of U. S. women bond
leaders, presented a scroll to
T-2easury Director General of Is-
rael Pinhas Saphir, representing
$106,000 in bond purchases made
in her honor prior to her depar-
ture.
Mrs. Katchke received a hand-
made cigarette case from Mrs.
Zipporah Sharett, wife of the
Israel Premier in recognition of
"her outstanding efforts on be-
half of Israel Bonds."
The case cover bears an etch-
ed copper design of symbols de-
noting the 12 tribes of Israel.
Mrs. Katchke also met with
Itzhak Ben Zvi, President of
Israel, Minister of Labor Golda
Myerson and Chief Rabbi Dr.
Isaac Herzog.
Purity Chapter to Host
County's Leading Officers
Purity Chapter, Order of East-
ern Star, will entertain the first
four officers of the organization
in Wayne County, beginning at
4 p.m., Monday, at the temple,
80 W. Alexandrine, when the
afternoon class opens.
Degrees will be exemplified by
the associate matrons and asso-
ciate patrons of Wayne County.
Dinner will be served at 6:30
p.m.
The evening class will open at
8 p.m., and the degrees will be
exemplified by the worthy mat-
rons and worthy patrons of
Wayne County, states Sadie
Pearl, worthy matron of Purity
Chapter.

Gen. Carlos P. Romulo, Am-
bassador to the United States
and Chief Delegate to t h e
United Nations from the Philip-
pines, will speak on "The Future
of the United Nations" at a pro-
gram sponsored by Greater De-
troit Chapter of United World
Federalists.
The event will be held
Wednesday evening, beginning
with a cocktail party at 6 p.m.
Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
Mayor Cobo is dinner chairman,
while C. Allen Harlan is acting
dinner chairman.

the visit of Gen. Romulo, former
president of the UN General As-
