Club hbsted Mrs. R. Blumen-
stock of the personnel depart-
ment of the Board of Education
at an open meeting. The pro-
gram which was arranged by
Alicia Margolis, president of the
group, centered around the
t o p i c, "Teaching Opportunities
in Detroit."

City of Hope Group
To Fete Husbands

The third annual dinner-
dance of the City of Hope Can-
cer Fighters, to be held May 22,
at Holiday Manor, will be a trib-
ute to husbands of members.
Each husband, upon entering,
will receive a buttoniere. The
program will begin with a
cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., and
conclude with dancing to the
music of the Fenby-Carr Or-
chestra.
Reservations may be made by
calling Eileen Kirman, DI. 1-
3024, or Tillie Moltz, UN. 4-1509.
A board meeting is planned
at 12:30 p.m., Monday, at the
home of Mrs. Jack Rosenberg,
5500 W. Outer Dr. Assisting as
co-hostesses will be Shirley Gor-
don, Ruth Rosenberg and Goldie
Young.

new members. The officers are:
President, Jerry Rogoff; vice-
president, Sheldon Glass; secre-
taries, Walter Bagdade and Bob
Schaye; treasurer, Fred Miller;
sopher, Alan Croll; sergeants-at-
arms, Gerry Cohen and Mark
Owens; chaplain, Danny Clark.
Lucky seniors leave for Wash-
ington next weekend and return
in time for school Monday.
"The Thirteen Clocks," a mar-
ionette show, will be presented
by the Art Club May 9. The
marionettees were made by the
members and the Broadcasters
Club will help with the voices
and staging of the show.
Once again, Student Council
elections roll around. The final
election will be on May 13 after
rallies, campaigning, and
speeches.
The Girls Athletic Association
is now sponsoring "play days"
for all interested girls. Those
who do not have classes in
swimming are permitted to
swim on specified days, thus giv-
ing everyone a chance to share
the new pool.
The annual variety show this
year, entitled "Rehearsal," was
enjoyed by many on May 5 and
6.
May 2-9 are the dates of this
year's clothing drive, sponsored
by the Hi-Y. Students are urged
to bring their old clothing to
this worthy cause. -
At the MSTY (Michigan State
Temple Youth) conclave in
South Bend, Ind., the following
state officers were elected: Pres.,
Lester Lunsky; Veep, Larry Mor-
rison; Sec., Rose Ellen Cohen;
Treas., Larry Robbins; national
board member, Jack Davis.

Detroit and Grand Rapids res-
idents will have an opportunity
to see "The World of Sholem
Aleichem," through _a tour being
arranged by the National Jewish
Welfare Board.

members of the original cast
that appeared in New York for
42 weeks, can be booked through

A $3,000 goal has- been set by
University of Michigan students
in their Allied Jewish Campaign
drive. Chairmen in the various
dormitories, sororities and frat-
ernities are: Jordan Burke, Dick
Gooel, Judy -Ann Jacobs, Ellen
Jones, Sharon Kass, Bob Katch-
ke, Joyce Kaye, Myron LaBan,
Bob Liss, Valerie Oppenheim,
Mike Silber, Eleanor Shur,
Nancy Smith, Don Tonkin and
Harvey, Wax. Over-all chairmen
are Barry Stulberg, and Sissy
Diamonstein of Virginia. Over
$1,100 in proceeds from "Hillels-
apoppin", annual Hillel - spon-
sored skit night, has been given
to the fund.
U. of M. seniors Phyllis Ash,
Eugene Axelrod, James Hal-
pern, June Stone, Shirley Bay-
lis of Pontiac, and Sandra Sil-
ver of Ann Arbor, are new ini-
tiates to Phi Beta Kappa, na-
tional scholastic honorary so-
ciety. A junior, Betty Ann
Rosenfeld of Jackson, was also
initiated.
Jack Horwitz, treasurer of Tau
Delta Phi fraternity, has been
named associate sports editor of
the Michigan Daily.
Senior Al Levey pitches on
University of Michigan's varsity
baseball team which recently
returned from a Southern tour.
