education, relationship between
American and Israel Jewries and
social issues involving the rights
of all citizens in a democracy.

France has been hit with Arab
threats and protests since she
shipped arms to Israel. Jordan
has threatened to boycott French

The Conservative Jewish move-
ment in America had its begin-
nings over a plate of shrimp. At
least that's the story as related
by Alfred Segal in his Plain Talk
column, released this week by
Seven Arts Feature Syndicate.
The shrimp was served at a
banquet on July 11, 1883, which
was significant because it marked
the ordination of four young
rabbis who were the first to grad-
uate into Reform Judaism from
Hebrew Union College.
Quoting Dr. David Philipson,
who was one of those newly-or-
dained rabbis, stress was laid on
dietary laws, since it was known
that delegates from various parts
of the country would be present
who followed them. A Jewish
caterer was engaged to prepare
the dinner.
All was well during the invoca- -
ton, but when the waiters
brought the first . course of
shrimp, two rabbis walked out.
• One of -them was Sabato
Morals, who later launched a
counter-movement which result-
ed in the establishment of the
Jewish Theological Seminary in
New York.

ugs and Carpets

It is important to know how to take the proper care
of your costly floor coverings. Unless you yourself are
informed on methods and proper detergents and their
effect on different kinds of carpets and weaves, you have,
to buy on confidence. In buying Carpet cleaning service
as in buying merchandise you must choose carefully- to
get the most for your money.

It does make a difference where and with whom you
spend your money. It is to your advantage to make cer-
tain of quality work and responsible workmen.

There may be danger in permitting obscure door-bell
ringers to experiment with your fine floor coverings
just to save a few pennies. Don't look for bargains from
so called cleaners who are • not responsible, who have
little or no experience, knowledge or stability.

IC is smart to engage Leader's Carpet cleaning experts.

signed by the Bigelow Carpet Makers. Let LEADER give
you this superb quality cleaning . The best costs you

Nathan Framowitz, president;
