Honeymoon in Haiti
After April 3 Wedding

MRS. RODNEY G. LANDSMAN

In a double-ring ceremony on
the afternoon of April 3, at Tem-
ple Israel, Sandra Olive Gilbert,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
B. Gilbert, of Ohio Ave., became
the bride of Rodney Glenn
Landsman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Landsman, of Fleet St.
Dr. Leon Fram and Rabbi Morris
Adler officiated.
The bride wore a gown of Ital-
ian silk taffeta with fitted bod-
ice, the front of which was high-
lighted by pleated strips that
formed a diamond pattern. to the
long torso waist. The sleeves fol-
lowed the same motif, and the
deep batau neckline was edged
in heirloom lace.
Her bouffant skirt ended in a
cathedral train, and the three-
tiered veil of silk illusion was at-
tached to a tiara of lace, adorned
with sequins and pearls.
Dvora Mersky was maid of
honor, and bridesmaids included
Rubyjean Landsman, Adele Ger-
man, Marilyn Amdur, Betty Far-
ber, Frona Johnson and Mrs.
Gordon Fishman. Hope Ludwig,
of Greenfield, Mass., the bride's
cousin, was flower girl, and Joan
Erman sang "My Devotion."
Bud Gottesman was the bride-
groom's best man, and seating
the guests were Robert Tanner,
Harold Herman, Barnett Lazarus
and Edward Berson. Randy Sil-
verston, the bridegroom's cousin,
was ring bearer.
A cocktail reception followed
the ceremony, and a family din-
ner was served at Rainbow Ter-
race in the evening. The newly-
weds flew to Haiti for their wed-
ding trip, and upon their return
will make their home in Detroit.
Among the many out-of-town-
ers were guests from Cleveland,
New York, Massachusetts and
Chicago.

Mr., Mrs. Herbert Hordes,
Mrs. Sperka to Address
JNF Women on April 26

The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Jewish National Fund will hold
an open meeting April 26, 12:30
p.m., at Adas Sholom Synagogue,
Curtis at Santa Rosa.
Mrs. Albert Prag, program
chairman for the afternoon, an-
nounces two features for the
program:
Mrs. Joshua Sperka, will give
a book review of the humorous
tales of "Mattel, the Cantor's
Son" by Sholem Aleichem.
Guests at the meeting will be
Nesia and Herbert Hordes, chil-
dren of Mr. and Mrs. William
Hordes and Mr. and Mrs. Isadore
Singer, who are visiting here
from Jerusalem. Mrs. Sidney
Ravin, president of the Auxi-
liary, states that Mr. Hordes will
talk about the JNF in Israel,
and Mrs. Hordes will relate the
every day life of the Israeli
housewife.
All are invited. A dessert
luncheon will be served. Host-
esses will be Mesdames Sam
Heyman, William Levin, L. Mil-
ler and Joseph Rubin.

Leon B. Kay, of Parkside Ave., left for Paris on Monday on his
way to ,Israel to attend a special Conference in Haifa for the
Technion. Mr. Kay will spend a few days in Istanbul before reach-
ing Israel for the Independence Day celebrations. Mrs. Kay will
join him in Israel in May.
S. R. Reznik has returned from a motor trip to California.
Adolphe Horwitz, of Seward Ave., left last Wednesday aboard
an El Al Constellation for Israel where he will spend five weeks
vacation before returning home.
Karl B. Segall, of Hartwell Ave., was a passenger aboard the
Queen Elizabeth, which left New York on April 20. Mr. Segall will
tour England and Italy before reaching Israel on May 3. He will
attend the Haifa Technion Conference and will tour Switzerland
and France on his journey home.
Mrs. Emma Schaver, Detroit soprano, has been invited to par-
ticipate in the Mexican celebration of Israel Independence Day on
Tuesday, in Mexico City. The program is arranged by the entire
Jewish community, and will be attended by the Israel Embassy
staff. Following a tour of the country, Mrs. Schaver will return to
Mexico City on May 5 to present a full concert at the Belles Artes
Theater.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kaplan and family, of this city, were
recent guests at Oakton Manor Resort, on the shores of Lake Pe-
waukee, Wis.
Vacationing in East Liverpool, 0., during the Passover season
as guests of Dr. and Mrs. Mike Alpern were Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Kief and son, of Buena Vista Ave.
Mrs. Bernard Fredenthal and children, Lisa and Paul, have
returned from a two-week vacation in New York where they
visited with family and friends.
