Plan Special Concert
For Home Residents

A special concert has been
planned for residents at the
Jewish Home for Aged through
the courtesy of the Music Per-
formance Trust Fund and the
Detroit Federation of Musicians.
At 2 ' p.m., April . 28, at the
monthly birthday party for resi-

Slate Western Matinee. Dance

The Duartians of the City
of Hope will offer" a matinee
Western Party' from 2 to 6 p.m.,

JNF Near Goat
In Nusbaum Forest

At a meeting of the Jewish
National Fund Council of De-
troit, Max Stollman, chairman
of the Abraham Nusbaum For-
est Committee, stated that al-
most complete subscription of
the 1,000 trees has been reached.
The effort, started only six
months ago, has reached the
sum of $11,388.44 in cash, while
pledges payable during the
month amount to nearly $2,300,
for a total of $13,645.94.
In addition, Stollman reported
that a grove of trees in the
amount of $1,500 has been sub-
scribed in honor of Alex Cohen.
A letter sent by the Nusbaum
Forest Committee to a group of
Detroiters is expected to bring
the funds necessary for the
completion of the forest by the
end of May.
The forest in Nusbaum's hon-
or is in recognition for his par-
ticipation in Zionist and reli=
gious efforts locally,- nationally
and for. Israel. The complete
subscription of the forest in such
a short time for an individual
citizen is considered an unprece-
dented occurrence, stated Stoll-
man. -

Dr. Knowles to Address
Leadership Institute
Of League, Center

, Dr. Malcolm- Knowles, admin-
istrative coordinator, Adult
Education Association, will con-
duct the third annual Leader-
ship Training Institute Thurs-
day, at the Davison Jewish
Center.
The institute, held under the
auspices of the Center and the
League of Jewish Women's Or-
ganizations, will begin at 12
. noon. The work-
shop is open to
all women in-
terested in or-

listed by these small groups will
form the basis for Dr. Knowles'
major presentation, and he will
discuss the possible solutions to
organizational problems in
terms of the most recent adult
education techniques.
Dr. Knowles will cover many
of the following topics: The
purpose of an organization, mo-
tivating membership toward ful-
filling these purposes, obtain-
ing membership participation,
and developing leadership
among members.
Dr. Knowles received his
B.A. degree from Harvard Uni-
versity and a Ph.D. degree at
University of Michigan and
University of Chicago. He is the
authOr of .numerous• articles.
A committee composed of Mrs.
Irving H. Small, president of
LJWO; Mrs. Nathan Spevakow,
vice president; Mrs. Philip Bern-
stein, secretary, and Mrs. Harry
L. Jackson, of the center adult
committee, are in charge of the
workshop.

Robert Oppenheimer, released
in film form through the Fund
for the Republic.
The film runs for an hour, and
includes portions of the inter-
view omitted from 'the telecast.
The program service hasrecent-
ly added to its film library the
Hadassah color movie on Israel,
"A New Morning." Through a
fascinating tour of Israel, the
film presents some of the prob-
lems resulting from the heavy
immigration of the past five
years and measures the progress
made in overcoming many of the
difficulties. The film runs for 23
minutes.
These films and other audio-
visual materials may be secured

Lion's Car Wash Day
To Aid the Blind

Motor City Lion's Club will
hold its annual Car Wash Day
on Sunday, at Zip's Auto Wash,
W. 7 Mile Rd. at Faust. All
proceeds will go to the Lion's
e y e conservation fund, which
serves the community bounded
by Schoolcraft to 8 'Mile and
Telegraph to Southfield.
S a m Goldberg, manager of
Zip's Auto Wash, has donated
all of his facilities and all the
proceeds to the Lion's Club. In
another community service,
Goldberg also has donated 18
pints of blood to the Red Cross:

and Mrs. Louis Yezersky, of W.
Grand Ave., became the bride
of Alvin Slafkin, son of Mr. and 16
Mrs. Samuel Slafkin, of Oak
Park, Mich. Rabbi Herbert S.
Eskin and Cantor Judah Gold-
ring officiated. •

The bride's gown was of white
chantilly- lace and nylon net
over satin. Her veil of illusion
was held in place by a tiara -of
seed pearls and sequins. She
carried a bouquet of stephano-
tis, centered by a white orchid.
Carol Slafkin, sister of the
bridegroom, was maid of honor,
and . bridesmaids were Elaine
Auster and Elaine Feldman.
Larry Benderoff was best man,
while ushers included Jerry
Winkler and, Al Schlossberg, of.
Louisville, Ky. •
Following dinner and a re=
