Mr. Simon Knoppow
Dies in Jerusalem
800 Commemorate
Simon Knoppow, a Detroit
resident for over 40 years, died
April 3, in Jerusalem, Israel. Mr.
Knoppow had taken up residence
there three years ago. Services
and interment were in Israel.
In Detroit, he was active in
numerous religious and charit-
able movements, including Ye-
shivath Beth Yehudah, Yeshi-
vath Chachmey Lublin and Che-
sed shel Emes. He was a life
member of Mizrachi and a mem-
ber of Nusach Harie Synagogue.
During his residence in Is-
real, he established the Knop-
pow Gemiluth Chassodim Socie-
ty, a relief agency for needy
Jews in Jerusalem.
Mr. Knoppow leaves three
sons, Abraham, Nathan and
Isaac, all of Detroit; two
daughters, Mrs. Sonia Mitchel-
son and Gwendolyn Marks, of
Los Angeles, Calif., 11 grand-
children and three great grand-
children.
