MRS. S. ALEXANDER BRAILOVE
COMBINATION stroller-buggy. Year-old.
Crib and mattress. DI. 1-1568.
Rabbi Herbert A. Friedman,
of Milwaukee, who has been
chosen to succeed Dr. Joseph J.
Schwartz as national executive
director of the United Jewish
Appeal, starting in June of this
year, will address a campaign
rally of the Women's Division of
the Allied Jewish Campaign on
April 18.
Mrs. S. Alexander Brailove,
honorary chairman of the UJA's
National Women's Division, will
speak at three women's cam-
paign gatherings here on April
19 and 20.
Rabbi Friedman was one of a
group of business and profes-
sional leaders who visited Is-
rael in 1953 to help plan an ac-
celerated economic development
of the new state. Earlier, as spe-
cial adviser on Jewish affairs to
the occupation army in Ger-
many, he worked to rehabilitate
many thousands of Jewish dis-
placed persons.
Mrs. Brailove traveled exten-
sively in Israel as a member of
the American delegation at the
Jerusalem Confefence with the
then Prime Minister David
Ben-Gurion. On another visit,
after the UN General Assembly
voted for an independent Jew-
ish state in 1948, she barely es-
caped death, when Arab snipers
ambushed her party.
Many Tourists in
Israel for Passover
Direct JTA Teletype Wire

TEL AVIV-With Passover in
the air, in every settlement
throughout the land, El Al planes
have debarked more than 1,100
tourists, 160 from the United
States, in a single day. Flower
shops have been doing a rush
business. Other shops have had
a busy season, too, as the im-
proving economic situation is re-
flected on the consumer level.
A special Passover program
was held at ZOA House here, at
a Seder for tourists and Israelis,
including Joseph Serlin, Minister
of Health. A "children's day" has
been planned for tourists to meet
and play with Israel children.
Highest Court in Mexico
Returns Site Acquired
For Jewish Hospital
MEXICO CITY, (JTA)-A de-
cision by Mexico's highest court
has returned to a Jewish com-
mittee the site on which will be
built a Jewish hospital in Mexi-
co. The site, valued at an esti-
mated 2,000,000 pesos, had been
seized by a Mexican, and the
case was fought in various
courts here. The decision by the
high court recognized the claim
of the Jewish hospital-commit-
tee.

vides explanations of and reci-
pes and menus for all the holi-
days as well as for home cele-
brations, such as: Bar Mitzvah,
Pidyan HaBen, Brith Milah,
weddings and other events.
Listing the Jewish calendar,
offering explanations of our
holidays and their food associa-
tions, Mrs. Leonard's new book
explains in detail each holiday,
evaluates the symbols relating
to them and offers the well-
tested recipes and many menus.
The Passover section includes
an explanation of the festival,
an outline of the Seder symbols,
and menus for the Seder, break-
fasts, luncheons, dinners-in-
cluding milchig meals.
The recipes begin with sug
gestions for making Passover

different types of knaid-
lach, souplets, poultry and tur-
key dressings, turkey stuffing,

serves, yogurt and a score of
other Passover items.

typical recipes:
FEATHERWEIGHT KNA1DLACH
2 eggs
2 tablespoons schmaltz
1 cup Matzo meal
IA to 14 cup cold water
1 teaspoon salt
a dash of nutmeg or cinnamon (opt.)
Beat eggs lightly and stir in the listed
ingredients to form a stiff batter. Cover
and chill in refrigerator at least two
hours. About a half hour before serving
time, form the batter into Knaidlach
(little balls) and drop into rapidly boiling
salted water. Cover and cook 30 minutes.
Drain and serve in hot
clear soup.
Serves 4.
"The Jewish Holiday Cook
Book" adds to Mrs. Leonard's
fine reputation as a guide for
lovers of good foods. It is a
splendid addendum to her
earlier book.
