Rabbi Emanuel Applebaum, a supervisor of the United Hebrew
Schools, has returned from New York where he attended the
annual conference of the American Academy of Hebrew, sponsored
by Histadruth Ivrith, at the Barbizon Plaza Hotel.
In honor of the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Melvin, Mr. and
Mrs. Hyman Natisky, of N. Martindale Ave., entertained a group of
friends at Sid's Cafe, on March 27.
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Weintraub, of 2998 Monterey, are pres-
ently traveling in South America where they will stay a month.
Prior to • their departure, Mr. Weintraub was .honored at a party
given by the Greater Detroit Scrap Trade Association. •
Three pharmacy students at Detroit Institute of Technology
have returned to their homes in Chicago, Ill., to spend the Passover
holidays. They are: Donald Alvin Zeitz, Seymour Rushakoff and
Morton Blumofe.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel W. Leib and sons. Jeffrey and Roger, are
now residing in their new home at 1686 Balmoral Dr.
Mrs. Alexander W. Sanders was elected first vice-president of
the League of Women VOters.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert H. Warner, formerly of Calvert Ave.,
Detroit, are now residing at 163 N. Wetherly Dr., Beverly Hills,
Calif.
Esther Cohen, formerly of Elmhurst Ave., is now residing at
10451 Corning, Oak Park, Mich.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold- Stern, of
Santa Barbara Dr., announce
the engagement of their daugh-
ter, Sharron, to Sherwood Col-
burn, son of Mrs. Esther Col-
burn, of Cortland Ave., and the
late Mr. Harry Colburn.
The bride-elect attended the
University of Michigan. Mr. Col-
burn attended Wayne Universi-
ty. A May 29 wedding is planned.

en's Division for Israel Bonds,
will join the national women
bond leaders who will form an
official commission for a tour of
Israel beginning April 19. The
commission will study the eco-
nomic development of Israel
with relation to the effect of Is-
rael bond investments.
Mrs. Katchke, co-chairman of
the Women's Division for Bonds
during 1954, was selected as the
chairman for the current year,
the Detroit Israel bond office an-
nounced this week. She will be
honored at a bon voyage party
in the home of Mrs. Philip Helf-
man on Tuesday.
Mrs. Helfman announces that
Dr. James G. McDonald, first
United States Ambassador to Is-
rael, will be present at the affair,
as well as members of the Na-
tional Sponsors and CHEN
groups.
Vera Bramson Chapter
Schedules Dinner-Dance
Vera Bramson Chapter, Wo-
men's American ORT, will hold
its second annual Spring Din-
ner-Dance April 20, in Windsor's
Elmwood Casino. Detroit's own
Jackie Kannon will be featured
performer of the evening.
Mrs. Morris Miller and Mrs.
Howard Kronick are chairman
and co-chairman, respectively.
Proceeds will benefit ORT's pro-
gram of rehabilitation through
training carried on in 19 coun-
tries.
Dinner, dancing and enter-
tainment will highlight the
evening's program.
Directors include Mesdames Jack All-
weil, Erwin Friedman, Herman Hillman,
Isadore Katz and John Sender, two-
year terms, while serving for one year
are Mesdames Irving Bernstein, David
Blum, Max Brumer, Emery Ehrenwald,
Morris Klein, Ernest Labe, Robert Mid-
dleman, Joseph Miller, Morris Rosen-
berg, Henry Rosman, Harry Simon, Da-
vid Weiss, Eugene Weiss, Alfred Deutsch,
Andrew Iczkowitz, Adolph Lebowitz,

Mrs. Moses Lehrman was named an
honorary board member, while board

will sponsor its ninth annual
Community Service Awards pre-
sentation at 8 p. m., April 24, in
the auditorium of the Circle Cen-

Recipients of this year's award,
given for distinguished service to
the community, will be Mildred
M. Jeffrey, community services
representative of the UAW-CIO;
Boris M. Joffe, executive direc-
tor, Jewish Community Council;

The bride is the daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. Davis A. Benson, of
Wellesley Dr., and Mr. Fleisch-
man is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Fleischman, of Old Mill
Pl.
The bride's gown was of white
Italian silk peau de sole with a
scooped neckline of fitted bodice
appliqued in tiny pearls and im-
ported rose pointe chantilly lace.
The gown had a bouffant skirt
with panels of the matching lace
extending into a cathedral
length train. The veil was two
tiers ,of imported silk illusion
attached to a cap of shirred il-
lusion with appliques of the rose
pointe chantilly lace.
The bride was attended by
Judith Bloomfield as maid of
honor. The bridesmaids included
Julie Honigman, Diane Weingar-
den, Mignon Cohen, Beverly Eder
and Valerie Spector. Myra Lie-
bergott was flower gitl.
Harry Liebergott was best man.
Ushers included Ronald Benson,
Albert Moehlman, Herman
Moehlman, Seymour Stern and
Alvin Robinson. The ring bearer
was Steven Robinson. Seating
