Harriman Favors Change
In New York Sabbath Law
ALBANY, N. Y., (JTA)-Gov.
Averill W. Harriman told a rab-
binical delegation from New York
City that he favored changing
the current Sunday law in such
fashion as to permit stores which
close Saturday to remain open
on Sunday.
However, there is little likeli-
hood . that Gov. Harriman will
have an opportunity to act 011
such measures, since legislative
opposition has already killed six
of 'seven bills designed to permit
Sabbath observance by •shoakeep-
ers on days other than Sunday.
