At its housewarming Tuesday,
the Jewish Community Council
was greeted by many friends
who visited its new quarters in
the Fred M. Butzel Memorial
Building. The occasion was an
informal reception.
Governor Williams, who was
among the public officials at-
tending, took part in a brief
ceremony at 'which the nation's
colors were presented to. the
Council for display in the office.
The presentation was made for
the Jewish War Veterans by
Lawrence Gubow, Department
of Michigan Chief of Staff, ac-
cepted by the Governor and
turned over by him to Sidney
M. Shevitz, Council president.
Religious leaders and the repre-
sentatives of the many civic, na-
tionality and racial organizations
with which the Council cooper-
ates, were also in attendance at
the affair.
Plans for the reception and
hospitality arrangements were
handled by a committee headed
by Mesdames Theodore Barg-
man and Samuel J. Rhodes.
