tory action was justified," he
said.
He insisted that the Security
Council must censure Israel in
the hope and belief that a clear
statement now will be heeded
this time by those responsible
for the policy of retaliation. He
said Britain looks forward to the
replacement of the armistice uy
a permanent peace, but warned
that use of violence endangers
not only the armistice regime but
any hopes of improvement upon
the armistice. He reiterated
Britain's rejection of Egyptian
claims to belligerency six years
after the war's end.
The French representative
said Israel's act at Gaza "deeply
shocked all men of goodwill be-
cause it not only violated the
Security Council's decisions and
the armistice agreement but was
also contrary to human rights.
He said he will not vote lightly
for censuring Israel, because it
is difficult for France to vote
against Israel whose people
France is admiring. However,
France considers that there was
no justification for Israel's
"concrete premeditated military
attack" on Gaza. France also is
of the opinion that there is no
proof of Israel's argument that
Egypt attacked first. He con-
cluded by hoping that Israel
will take the Security Council
censure as a "last warning."

Egyptian Violence Continues;
Three Israelis Wounded
TEL AVIV, (JTA)—Three Is-
rael soldiers were wounded in
24 hours in a continuation of
the Egyptian infiltration and
violence in the Gaza area.
In the Israel-Jordan border
district an Israel patrol near
Maagal was fired upon, but suf-
fered no casualties. Israel com-
plained yesterday to the Israel-
Jordan MAC against the kid-
naping of two Arab citizens of
Israel by Jordanians in Central
Palestine.
Four Israelis who were arrested
in connection with the murder of
five Jordanian Bedouins in re-
prisal for the killing of Sho-
shana Harzion and Oded Wag-
meister were released on bail
today by a magistrate after Is-
rael police reported their inves-
tigation was completed.
