composer and concert pianist.
Proceeding to "spread upon
the Record a resume of the ac-
complishments of the Chajeses
that it may serve to inspire all
Americans to use the talents
they have in goodwill service to
our country," Rep. Diggs relates
the achievements of the prom-
inent and: able Detroit couple.
He lists their works, their ap-
pearances in many cities
throughout the world and the
extensive use that has been
made by many musicians and
musical organizations of Mr.
Chajes' compositions, and he
concludes:
"We salute in gratitude Mr.
and Mrs. Chajes and the many
other American citizens who
are using their talents to per-
form a vital service for their
fellowmen as well as to give
pleasure to them."

During the recent visit to De-
troit of national officers of the
United Order of True Sisters,
local Chapter No. 41 announced
a grant of $500 to Detroit Me-
morial Hospital.
Here for the presentation were
Mrs. Hortense Schlesinger, na-
tional p r e s i d e n t, and Mrs.
Charles Miller: national vice-
president, both of New York.
The funds were made avail-
able to indigent cancer patients
in need of radio-active isotope
treatments. Detroit Memorial
Hospital was selected because of
its facilities for this kind of
treatment.
The grant, local leaders said
is in keeping with the organiza-
tion's national policy to provide
funds for this purpose, and is
one of 30 such subsidies to be
granted by True Sisters.
The local group, which will
add periodically to the fund, also
maintains a cancer supply closet
at North End Clinic and an out-
patient department at Sinai
Hospital.

Seek Catholics' Return
To British Council

LONDON, (JTA) — The Arch-
bishop of Canterbury, Dr. Geof-
frey Fisher, told the 12th annual
meeting of the British Council
of Christians and Jews here that
efforts were being made to bring
the Catholic Church, which sev-
eral months ago withdrew from
the Council, back into the - or-
ganization.
"From the Roman Catholic
side there is no failure to appre-
ciate and to approve the aims
and objects" for which the
Council exists, Dr. Fisher said.
"But the Vatican was not satis-
fied with some of the ways and
means adopted by the Council
in pursuit of those aims. Be-
cause of that dissatisfaction the
resignation took place," he
added.
"The Council of Christians
and Jews is happy to recognize
that on the Roman Catholic side
there is no differing about the
aims and objects of the Council
and that the criticism was con-
fined to some of its methods,"
the Archbishop emphasized.
