of Israel. The ceremonies took
place in Jerusalem on March 23
on the grounds on which all new
buildings of the Hebrew Univer-
sity are now being erected.
The principal lecture hall is
to be named for Joseph Cher-
ner, industrialist of Washington,
D.C., and one • of the wings of
the school is to be named for
Samuel Rothberg, Peoria, Illi-
nois industrialist. These two
American leaders were among
the principal contributors to the
building fund for the school.

will address the Congress' De-

Chapter next Thursday, 8:30

Branch of the United Hebrew

Shad Polier South Carolina
and graduate of Harvard Law
School, Shad Polier is a leader
in the fight for civil liberties
and Jewish rights. He is a dy-
namic speaker.
His wife is Justine Wise Po-
lier, a Justice of the Domestic
Relations Court in New York
City and vice-president of the
Women's Division of the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress, who visited:

Israelis Urge Pressure
On Russia to Release Jews

TEL AVIV, (JTA)—An appeal

to world Jewry to continue its

pressure in behalf of Soviet
Jewry and "not to forget the
plight of our brethren in the
Soviet Union" was voiced here
at the annual conference of the
Defense Association for Help for
the Jews of Russia.
The conference urged that
world Jewry ask the Soviet
Union to let its Jews emigrate,
and to release- all Jews arrested
for Zionist activities. Among
the speakers at the parley were
