Rites Set for Aug. 30

Word was received • here last
week of the birth of a son, Dan-
iel Warren, to Mr. and Mrs. Av-
rum Rosenthal, in Jerusalem,
Israel.
The mother of the Sabra (the
term used for a native-born Is-
raeli) is the former Marilyn Wa-
ratt. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Waratt, of 3310' Glynn Ct.
Mr. Rosenthal is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Rosenthal, of
3305 Burlingame.

The Jewish National Fund an-
nounces that the Spring Blue
and White Box collection has
been set for Sunday, April' 10,
and asks every box-holder to
extend a welcome to the volun-'
teem workers.
Spring clearance takes place
every year during the Hol:
Hamoed Passover or chiring the
Passover' season, and is part of
the semi-annual traditional- box
clearance. The other clearance
takes:place in the fall.
Many organizations, including
youth groups, are participating
in the clearance. Plans- have
been made fOr a more prompt'
and thorough coverage of homes
where the JNF Box is -part of
the household. Among the or-
ganizatiOns whose members have
volunteered to clear boxes are:
Hadassah, Ladies Auxiliary of
the JNF, Miziachi Fannie Gluck,
Mizrachi Sisters of Zion, North-
west Child Rescue, Pioneer
Women, and youth groups Bnei
Akiva, Habonim, Hashomer Hat-
zair, Hechalutz Hatzair, and
others.
The JNF Council asks box
holders whose boxes aren't clear-
ed before or during the Passover
week, to call the office, TO.
8-7384. Arrangements will' be
made for prompt clearance.
Blue and White Boxes will be
mailed to those who wish to
take boxes into their homes., by
calling the JNF office.

Three prominent Jewish edu-
cators have been named to judge
the sixth annual Passover Cre-
ative Writing Contest, it is an-
nounced by Stephen Klein, pres-
ident of Barton's Bonbonniere,
the candy firm which sponsors
this annual educational competi-
tion. They are Dr. Joseph
Kaminetsky, director of Torah
•Umesorah, Dr. Isaac Lewin, prin-
cipal of Central Yeshiva High
School for Girls, Yeshiva Uni-
versity, and. Rabbi Leonard Ros-•
enfeld, director of the depart-
ment of Yeshivoth, Jewish Edu-
cation Committee of New York.
The first- prize is a trip to Is-
rael for two via El Al Israel Air-
lines and a two week stay at a
Tel AViv hotel through Modern
Tours. There are 12 other prize
awards to the national winners.
The contest is open to children
ages 8 to 16 who attend' Jewish
schools. Contest information is
available through religious
schools or any Barton's shop.
The contest closes April 5.

A bit of Broadway is, coming
to the Metropolitan Detroit area
this Summer in the form of a
"Melody Circus Theater" -- an
amphitheater under the largest
tent of its kind, to be erected on
the wooded grounds of historic
Botsford Inn in Farmington.
Long-run hit shows with all-
star New York casts are sched-
uled to open June 17 for nightly
performances and Sunday mati-
nees through Sept. 26.
"Guys and Dolls" will open
the series of 10 top shows.
A group of Detroit business-
men are making "Melody Circus
Theater" possible..
Among the shows to be pro-
duced are "Showboat", "Desert
Sono*" "Kiss Me Kate", "Wish
You Were Here," "Finian's Rain-
bow," "Brigadoon," "Carousel,"

Brother, Sister Reunited
After 34-Year Separation

Abraham Lelchuk, of ' Buenos
Aires, Argentina, recently :ar-
rived here with his wife for a
visit and reunion with his sister;
Mrs. -Anna Rosenzweig, .of 3332
Elmhurst.
The sister and brother had not
seen each other for 34 years since
Lelchuk left for Argentina and
Mrs. RoSenzweig came to this
country.
Now staying with his sister,
Lelchuk wishes to meet landsleit
from his native Turov, in Russia,
and would welcome calls from
them at TO. 7-3888. He will be
here through the Passover holi-
day.
