Representatives of Landsman-
shaften societies will meet at
8:30 p.m., March 23, in the Zion-
ist House, Linwood and Law-
rence, to formulate plans for the
planting of the Forest of 30,000
Security Trees in Israel in the
name of the Landsmanshaften
of Detroit.
The delegates formally con-
stitute the committee of Lands-
manshaften for Jewish National
Fund. They will choose officers
and committees to draft plans
for making Detroit Landsman-
shaften's greatest project in Is-
rael one of its most successful
undertakings.
The Forest will be known as
the Detroit Landsmanshaften
Forest, and will perpetuate the
names and work of every society
in the city. It will also serve as
a living memorial to the cities
and towns whose names the
local societies bear, and to lands-
leit wiped out by Hitler.
Societies are requested to ap-
point or elect a delegate to be
sure of representation at the
March 23 meeting. Delegates
will extend Tzeischem L'Shalom
to society members who are
leaving for Israel, among them
Harry Kaminer.

Young Campers to Send Toys to Israel

Toys and sporting goods will be sent by Camp Tanuga, at
Kalkaska, Mich., to the Red Mogen David of Israel from funds
collected during the camp's annual charity circus-carnival. Shown
here, selecting the toys are, from the left, dealer DAVE STEIN-
MAN, SUE SIEGAL, secretary of the camper council which selects
the charity to which the gifts will go, SIDNEY GOLDMAN, presi-
dent, and camp directors, BERNARD FRIEDMAN and AARON
GORNBEIN. The idea of sending the gifts to the Red Mogen
David came from Haggai Arnon, a native Israeli who spent last
summer at Camp Tanuga while on a visit here with his mother.
Missing from the picture is Brenda Gorne, of Flint, vice-president
of the council.
