Annual Wage Question

Planning the annual fund-raising event of the Women's Aux-
iliary of the Maimonides Medical Society, to be held March 22 in

"Fashions Internationale" is
the theme of the annual lunch-
eon and fund-raising event, to
be held by the Women's Auxili-
ary, Maimonides Medical Society,
at 12:30 p.m., March 22, in the
Sheraton Cadillac Hotel.
The program will ineorporate
a production written by noted
local dramatist Bess Greenwald,
and will feature original gowns

and other fashions by a popular
local firm. Mrs. Greenwald also

will participate in the produc-
tion.
Mrs. Louis Shiovitz, Auxiliary
president, announces that pro-
ceeds from the event are the
chief source of income . for the
organization's many philantro-
phies, including:
1. Contribution to the Clinical
Research Laboratory at the

to needy medical students
through a scholarship loan, fund
here and in Israel; 3. help to
impoverished cancer patients re-
ceiving X-ray treatment through
contributions to the American
Cancer Society; and 4. to elevate
the standards of medical prac-
tice in Israel by paying trans-
portation costs to bring an
Israel physician to this country
to do post-graduate research.
Mrs. Charles Gitlin is chair-
man of the- projects committee
and co-ordinator of fund-rais-
ing; Mrs. Joseph Dubin is lunch-
eon chairman; and Mrs. I. Wal-
ter Silver is another coordinator
of fund-raising.
Other luncheon workers in-
clude Mesdames Sol Grossman
and Emory Stein, hostesses; Le-
Roy Atler and Irving Levitt, dar-
lings and younger set chairmen;-
Henry Schlesinger and Marcus
S u g a r rn a n, journal; Arthur
Goldberg and Adolph Lowe,
ticket chairmen; and Israel
Weiner, reservations chairman.

Irving Bluestone, of the UAW-
CIO General Motors depart-
ment, and Wayne Stettbacher,
general manager of the Em-
ployers' Association of Detroit,
will discuss "The Guaranteed
Annual Wage" at the next
forum in the Jewish Commun-
ity Center's

question.
A question and answer period
will follow the discussion. The
public is invited.

Council of Mothers' Clubs
Plans Purim Masquerade Ball

The annual Purim Masquerade
Ball of the Council of 'Mothers'
Clubs will be held at 8:30 p.m.,
Saturday, in the Davison Jewish
Center. Mrs. Fanny Diamond,
chairman, announces that prizes
will be given for the best indivi-
dual interpretations and for
group projects. Marie Wheeler
and Shirley Malach will be the
judges.

Bnei Akiva to Repeat Successful Operetta

Following the success of last
Saturday night's Yiddish operet-
ta, members of Bnei Akiva have
been asked to give two more per-
formances—one at the Port Hu-
ron Jewish Center, the other for
a group from Mizrachi at the
home of Abe Nusbaum.
Last weekend alai found mem-
bers of Bnei Akiva playing host
to Shlomo Metzl, of Chicago, the
organization's secretary. He dis-
cussed future activities in the
Detroit area with local leaders.
A special leadership seminar is

currently planned for the Pass-
over week, during which Detroit
Bnei Akiva will accommodate
delegates from Toronto, St. Lou-
is, Chicago and Cleveland.
•Registration for the group's
summer camp is now being ac-
cepted. For information, call

Four Troop 23 Scouts
Earn Eagle Award

Members of Boy Scout Troop
23 will hold their annual Court
of Honor Monday evening, at
Cong. Bnai Moshe. The Eagle
award, highest scouting achieve-
ment, will be presented to Gerald
Trager, Julius Brodsky, Lyle
Hochman and Leonard Efros.
Special guests will include the
oldest scouter in the country,
affectionately known as Uncle
Otto, who will attend with his
wife. He will assist Scoutmaster
Nathan Trager in presenting the
Eagle awards.
Others planning to attend in-
clude a number of "old timers"
of Troop 23. The troop's Moth-
ers' Club will act as hostesses at
a social hour to follow, and mov-
ies of previous scout activities
will be shown.
