'The Ghosts of Camp Y:
Story About Patriots

"The Ghosts of Camp J," due
off the press March 11 is a book
for sub-teeners, full of suspense
and action, transporting its
readers to the scenes of some of
the exciting adventures of early
American Jewish Patriots.
Youngsters will readily identi-
fy themselves with the typical
summer campers of Robert Gar-
vey's story. Historical events
are reenacted by the "ghosts" of
such heroes as Asser Levy, Com-
modore Uriah Phillips Levy,
Major Benjamin Nones, Major
Mordecai Noah, who make their
appearance at the camp's first
camp-fire of the season. The
high point of Garvey's story is
the kidnapping of one of the
young campers by the spirit of
Francis Salvador, known as
the Jewish Paul Revere. Salva-
dor is famed for his heroic night
ride on horseback through the
South Carolina countryside,
warning the colonists of ap-
proaching British troops.
Published by the National
Women's League of the United
Synagogue of America, this
volume is a tribute to the Amer-
ican Jewish Tercentenary.
