David S. Stern, of Elkins Park,
Pa., was united in marriage on
Feb. 20 to David B. Mayer, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Krolik,
of Detroit. The ceremony was
performed in the home of the
bride's parents by Rabbi Hirsch
Cohen.
The new Mrs. Mayer's only
attendant was her sister-in-law,
Mrs. Peter Stern. of Elkins Park.
John Mayer, the bridegroom's
brother, was his best man.
The bride is a graduate of
Western College, in Oxford, 0.,
and Mr. Mayer has degrees from

operatic, semi-claSsic and folk
music and modern Jewish and
Israeli songs.
In her recital she will sing
compositions in their original
language. Her accompanist is
Florence Goldring.

Northwest Israel Women
Planning Purim Carnival
Unusual games and festive
booths have been planned for
a Purim carnival to be presented
from 4 p.m. to 12 midnight, Sun-
day, at Northwest Israel Syna-
gogue. Sponsoring the program
is the congregation's Sisterhood.
Mrs. Maurice Fox, chairman,
who stated that plans were com-
pleted this week, advises that
among the games planned are
penny pitching, darts, chuck-a-
luck, pitch-ball and skill-ball.
. Food will be sold at the carni- '
val., Mrs. Fox added, to enable
those attending to stay through
the supper hour. There is no
charge for admission.

Harry J. Roger, of Lafayette,
Ind., became the bride of Dwight
Lee Pollock, son of Mrs. Celia
Pollock, of Detroit, and Mr. Leo
Pollock, of Orlando, Fla. The
ceremony was performed Feb.
12, in Sons of Abraham Syna-
gogue, Lafayette, by Rabbi
Theodore Stampfer.
The bride wore a white silk
shantung gown, featured by
sprinkles of seed pearls on the
bodice. Her fingertip veil was
held in place by a pearl crown.
She carried gardenias atop a
white Bible.
Shayne Miller, of East Chica-
go, was maid of honor, and
bridesmaids included Mrs. Ro-
chelle Perlow, of Lafayette, Mrs.
Harvey Pollock, of Detroit, and
Harriet Fisher, of Columbus, 0.

David Fleisher, of Chicago,
was best man, and ushers in-
cluded Edwin Roger, Edward
Perlow and Harvey Pollock.
David Pollock, of Detroit, was

Mrs. Pollock is a graduate of
Indiana University school of
music and is a member of Mu
Phi Epsilon sorority. Mr. Pollock
attended Detroit Business Uni-
versity, and was recently dis-
charged from the U.S. Army.
Following a reception in the
synagogue vestry rooms, the
couple left on a wedding trip to
California. They plan to make
their home in Denver, Colo.
Out-of-town guests attending
were Mrs. A. Zeff and son, Ber-
nard, Mrs. R. Bader and daugh-
ters, Mrs. Dora Smith, Frances
and Bertha Farber and Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Bressler, all of De-
troit. Other guests were from
Gary, Ind., Salerri., Ill., Chicago,

HERSHMAN-ALGAZE. Myrtle
Algaze, daughter of Mr. Jay L.
Algaze, of Detroit, was united in
marriage to Sidney Hershman,
of New York, in a ceremony Feb.
13 in the Gold Room of the
Beverly Wiltshire Hotel, Los
Angeles, Calif. The ceremony
was performed by Rabbi Max
Vorspan. Following a lunch-
eon for relatives and friends, the
couple left for a honeymoon in
Palm Springs, Calif. On their
return, they were feted at a re-
ception given in the home of
Bernard Friedman, in Beverly
Hills. The couple now resides
at 830 1/4 North Alta Vista, in Los
Angeles.
