• Detroiter . Perfects NcM PlaAic Process Dr. Joseph N. Epel, 34-year-old president of Detroit's Duralastic Products Co., has perfected a new process in the field of com- mercial plastics. The new technique is a -meth- od for making sample plastic parts by the use of plastic dies, which is accomplished under pressure comparable to that used . .......in molding met- ' :al dies. For the first time, according to a statement from the com- pany, it is pos- sible to produce reinforced fiber- glass sample parts which are practically iden- tical to . those Dr. Epel made in metal dies, and at a fraction of the cost. Detailed reports on the new development are currently ap- pearing in numerous trade and business magazines. Dr. Epel established his company three years ago, after serving as a chemist for the U.S. Rubber Co. and vice-president and chemical consultant of Hefco Laboratories. Dr. Epel, who holds a doctor- ate in physical chemistry from Wayne University, has been a staff consultant in plastics for the Detroit Testing Laboratory since 1951. He is an active mem- ber of the Detroit Chapter, American Technion' Society, American Chemical S o c i e t y, Engineering Society of Detroit, Sigma Xi and Phi Lambda Epsi- lon.
