Sabbath service to be held at 8
p.m., today in the Ann Arbor

studied philosophy and psychol-
ogy at London University, served
with the Jewish Legion in
World War I. He has been a
member of Bnai Brith since

ly had as guests at a stag dinner

Bourke and Mark Beltaire, of
The Detroit Free Press. The
Lodge is planning an ADL rumor
clinic on Thursday evening, at
Carthel Hebrew School.

Enal Brith Young Women, is
giving a Washington's Birthday
party Feb. 26 at the home of
Shirley Schlussel. A Bnai Brith
Young Men's chapter has been
invited to attend. The club an-
nounces that it has formed its
team for the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign.

LOUIS STONE WOMEN
GRAND LODGE NO. 6 will elect
officers from the floor on Thurs-
day evening, at Carmel Hebrew
School. The group's charter will
soon be granted, and this will be
the last opportunity for mem-
bers and prospective members to
sign to become charter mem-
bers. An ADL rumor clinic also
will be sponsored at this time.

DONALD FOX CHAPTER and
LODGE will meet at 8:30 p.m.,
Thursday, at United Friendship
Hall for a joint program featur-
ing the Anti-Defamation
League. Mrs. Charlotte Sher-
man, ADL chairman, announces
that Dr. Morton J. Sobel, Michi-
gan Regional director of ADL,
will be guest speaker. Friends
are invited to attend. A social
hour will follow.

PISGAH CHAPTER will hold
a victory dinner on Tuesday, at
Sammy's Restaurant, in Oak
Park, for members who helped
raise funds to carry on the
group's philanthropic and serv-
ice work, states Mrs. Max Ma-
dorsky, president.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lee Car-
nick (Geraldine Bremen) an-
nounce the Bar Mitzvah of their
son, Bruce James, on Saturday,
at Cong. Shaarey' Zedek. They
will be at home in the Bar Mitz-

Musical Evening at Beth El
Planned by Young Marrieds

The Young M rried Group of
Temple Beth El will present an
evening of Jewish music in honor
of Jewish Music Month at 8:30
p.m., Wednesday, at the temple.
The group will feature the ta-
lent of its o,-,n members, with
John Redfield as cantorial solo-
ist, Collete Rosner as piano
soloist, and Jason Tickton, music
director of the temple, in charge
of musical narration and direc-

tion.

Two young musicians will be
featured at the annual Artist
Concert, to be held at 8:30 p.m.,
Monday, in the main auditorium
of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
They are Jeanne Diamond, a
lyric soprano, and Haim Arbeit-
man, violinist.
Miss Diamond, a 24-year-old
former Detroiter, now resides in
Chicago. She has studied at the
American Conservatory of Xusic
and Roosevelt College. Currently,
she is a student of Lola Fletcher,
in Chicago.
A member of the Chicago Op-
era Guild, Miss Diamond played
Mimi in last summer's Grant
Park presentation of "La Bo-
heme." She was the winner of
'a state-wide contest last spring,
which was sponsored by the So-
ciety of American Musicians,
and was awarded a concert at
Kimball Hall.
Arbeitman, who was born in
Warsaw, Poland, in 1927, made
his debut at the age of nine,
but his plans for study were dis-
rupted by the Nazi invasion of
his homeland. During the war he
spent four and a half years in
concentration camps.
His studies were renewed in
1946 in Munich, and he appeared
there with the Munich Sym-
phony Orchestra. In 1949, Ar-
