Last week, final touches were
added to the traditional depar-
ture of what now constitute 163
alumni of Central High School.
Presentation of the class gift
was made by Rae Jean Blatni-
koff and was accepted by Wil-
liam A. Arbaugh, assistant prin-
cipal. Acceptance of the spade
which turned Central's first soil
was presented by graduate Mor-
ris Garfinkel to 12A president

was made by graduating presi-

Seventeen -year- old Ruthie
Meckler, a Mumford senior, will
have the honor of accompany-,
ing Haim Arbeitman, a young
and promising violinist in the
annual Artists Concert of the
Music Study Club on Feb. 21.
Ruth has distinguished her-
self since she was 10, when she
won the Gabrilowitsch Scholar-
ship. At -11, she won first prize
in the Comniemorative Contest
in the. Adult division. She has
made two solo appearances with
the Detroit Symphony. The
Gwladys Luloff award which
consisted of $300 was achieved
by Ruth at the age of 15.

JPI to Salute Music

Month, Tercentenary

The Jewish Parents Institute
of the Jewish Community Cen-
ter will pay tribute to the Ameri-
can Jewish Tercentenary and
the Jewish Music Festival at an
assembly for children and par-
ents at 10 a.m., Feb. 20, in the
Woodward Center.
Program offerings by the
younger JPI element will in-
clude a song written especially
for Tercentenary, presented by
the older girls' club; a play by
the children's dramatic group,
adapted from "Twenty-Three
and Reyna"; and a film strip
showing "Three Hundred Years
of Memorable Events in Ameri-

On Dec. 28, at Holiday Manor,
Marilyn Jean Baskin exchanged
marital vows with Ronald Mar-
tin Goldstone. Rabbi Milton Arm
and Cantor Judah Goldring of-
ficiated at the • ceremony.
The bride, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Sommers, of
Kentucky Ave., chose a gown of
ivory tufted satin, with a bertha
yoke and illusion neckline. Her
illusion veil of fingertip length
was held in place by a tiara of
pearls . and sequins. Two white
orchids on a Bible composed her
bridal bouquet.
Mrs. Irving Fishman was her
sister's matron of honor, and
Eleanor Portney was maid of
honor. Bridesmaids were Audrey
Goldstone, sister of the bride-
groom, Mrs. Richard' Sitron and
Mrs. Lee Tobias.
The bridegroom, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Mitchell Goldstone, of
Santa Rosa* Dr., was served by
Howard Prince as the best man,
while ushers included Richard
Friedman, Roger Daniels, Fred
Fox and Haskell Server.
Following a reception, the
couple motored to Florida for
their honeymoon. On their re-
turn, they are residing at 819

Bielfield to Head
House of Shelter

Jerry Bielfield was re-elected
president of the Jewish House
of Shelter at its annual election
meeting last month, in the or-
ganization's building, 1620 Tay-
lor.
Re-elected with Bielfield were
Dr. Raphael Altman, Henry
Rottman and Nathan Yaffe,
vice-presidents; David Goldberg,
treasurer; and Esther Adler,
secretary. Morris Dorn will serve
as chairman of ,
the House com-
mittee, while

Bielfield
his report on
activities in the past year, said
that 245 individuals, most of
them transients, were provided
with food and shelter. A total of
2,050 meals were served, and 888
nights lodging were provided.
Eight new American families,
consisting of 15 adults and 24
children, were accommodated in
the House's upstairs. They re-
mained a total of 251 days. Biel-
field commended the work of
the House of Shelter's Ladies
Auxiliary for their services dur-
ing the year.
The House is administered by
the Jewish Social Service Bu-
reau. Funds are provided by
the Allied Jewish Campaign.

An original skit, "Previews of
Fashions Internationale" is be-
ing presented at an open board
meeting of the Women's Auxili-
ary of Maimonides Medical So-
ciety at 12:30 p.m., Feb. 22, in
the home of MrS, H. Turkell, 650
W. Boston.
Mrs. L. Shiovitz, president, in-
vites all members to attend the
meeting and see the preview of
plans for the Auxiliary's annual
luncheon and show, to be held
March 22, at the Sheraton Cadil-
lac Hotel.
Mrs. Emil Simon, program
chairman, was assisted - by J. Du-
bin and Mrs. L. Gross in writing
the words and music for the skit.
The following members are
