Our Brides' Photos Must Go
On file in the offices of The Jewish News are photo-
graphs of brides and numerous organizations which have
never been picked up by their owners. Because of over-
crowdedness in the files, these pictures have to go.
We plan to retain all pictures for one month longer so
that individuals who so wish may pick them up. After a
month's time, they will be discarded, If you have a picture
here that you are planning to pick up, please do so immedi-
ately.

Seek Indemnification
For Converted Jews
VIENNA, (JTA)—The Catholic
Church has as much right as
Jewish organizations to demand
restitution from the Austrian
government, since it represents
many thousands of former Jews
who converted to Christianity
and had suffered from the Hit-
ler regime, Archbishop-Coadju-
tor Franz Joachim declared here.
T h e Catholic Archbishop
stated his view in the weekly
"Furche," a publication usually
considered as reflecting the
Vatican's viewpoint in this
country.
The article demands that the
Catholic Church be permitted
to participate in the drafting of
a new restitution law. It points
out that no Jewish organization
has intervened to obtain com-
pensation for "Christian Jews"
who are in need.
Alan S. tSchwartz, son of Mrs.
Rose Schwartz, of 9321 Broad-
street, received a wire last week
from Sen. Charles E. Potter,
nominating him as a candidate
for the newly-organized Air
Force Academy.
Schwartz, a n 18 - year - old
W a y n e University freshman,
will compete with other nomi-
nees at Selfridge Air Force Base.
Schwartz won a scholarship to
Wayne, after graduating with
honors from Cass Technical High
School.
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—The San
Francisco branch of the Bank
of America has granted the
Jewish National Fund a $10,-
' 000,000 loan repayable within
three years at an interest rate
of four per cent. The JNF will
use this sum to consolidate vari-
ous debts and outstanding loans.
The same bank loaned the JNF
$15,000,000 in 1949. That loan
has since been repaid.

UNITED NATIONS, (AJP)-
The question of Shechitah was
raised before a UN body.
The 12-member Subcommis-
sion on Pre .wiation of Discrim-
ination and protection of mi-
norities heard.Dr. Isaac Lewin of
the Agudas Israel World Or-
ganization request that the
Commission give serious "study
to the prohibition in several
countries against Jewish laws on
slaughtering animals for meat."
Dr. Lewiri • asked that the
Shechitah question be included
within the aspect of the Sub-
commission's work concerned
with discrimination in the mat-
ter of religious rights and prac-
tices, as based upon a report
submitted by U. S. representa-
tive, Judge Philip Halperin.
As evidence to the fact that
Shechitah is "a most humane
way of killing animals," Dr.
Lewin cited Prof. Auguste Krogh,
director of the Physiological In-
stitute of Copenhagen and Nobel
Prize winner of 1926, who had
made this statement: •
"Having' been present per-
