Federation In-Service
Sessions Start Jan. 25;
Dr. Duker First Speaker
Author-lecturer Dr. Abraham
Duker will be guest speaker for
the first two of four sessions of
the Fifth Annual In-Service In-
stitute. All meetings will be held
at 8 p.m., in the Esther Berman
Building of the United Hebrew
Schools, 18977 Schaefer, and are
open to • staff members of the
Jewish Welfare Federation and
its agencies.
On Tuesday, January 25, Dr.
Duker will speak on "Immigrant
Backgrounds—The SHTET.I., and
Eastern Europe." On Jan. 31, he
will discuss "East Meets West—
The Impact of American En-
vironment on Jewish Cultural
Patterns."
Harold Silver, executive direc-
tor of the Jewish Social Service
Bureau, will be chairman for
both programs.
"The Organized Jewish Com-
munity.— Direction, Past and
Present," will be the Feb. 7 In-
stitute address by Isidore Sobel-
off, executive director, Jewish
Welfare Federation. Program
chairman will be Ben M. Man-
delkorn, administrative assistant
of Federation.
Albert Mayer, Wayne Univer-
sity . Assistant Professor of so-
ciology, will conclude the Insti-
tute schedule Feb. 14, with a
talk on "Local Jewish Popula-
tion Movement and Its Implica-
tion. This meeting, chaired by
Harold Weiss, assistant director,
Jewish Community Center, also
will include Dr. Joseph Fauman,
of the Jewish Community Coun-
cil; Michael Michlin, of the
United Hebrew Schools, and
Weiss as discussants.

To Head City Oil Men
Robert Trepeck of Auto City

president of the Detroit Oil
Men's Club for 1955. He previ-

Emma Schaver to Sing
In Chicago on Jan. 27
Emma Schaver, Detroit con-
cert singer, has been invited to
appear on a fo nds for Israel
program in Chicago, Jan. 27.
The affair, to take place in the
Sherman Hotel, will honor the
new bond chairman, Morris
Dewaskin. Senator Estes Ke-
fauver will be guest speaker.
Mrs. Schaver also will sing for
the Chicago Women's Division
"Guardians" who are sponsoring
an afternoon tea. Nancy Ke-
fauver, wife of the Senator, will
be present. Mrs. Rebecca Froh-

Mrs. Schaver's Chicago- ap-
pearance follows her Montreal

Honor Dr. Jack Jackman
At Perfection Dinner
Dr. Jack Jackman, immediate
past master of Perfection Lodge,

his lodge at a dinner at 6:30
p.m., Wednesday, in the Foun-
tain Ballroom of Masonic Tem-
