S. S. Greenberg Heads Community
Workshop, New Federation Agency.

Samuel S. Greenberg was
elected first president of the
Community Workshop by the
agency's board of trustees.
The Community Workshop, a
sheltered workshop program to
determine and help improve the
employability of severely handi-
capped persons, is the newest
local agency af-
filiated with the
Jewish Welfare
Federation o f
Detroit. Through
the Workshop's
program, many
persons prey i-
ously considered
" unpiaceable "
subsequently
have been
placed success-
fully in private
employment.
The Agency is
an approved.
workshop f o r
the employment

of handicapped under the U.S.-
Fair Labor Standards Act and
is recognized as an accredited
agency by the Michigan Office
of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Work is secured on a sub-con-
tractor basis from large or small
manufacturers a n d consists
largely of light production, mail-
ing, wrapping, packaging, sub-
assembly and sewing aperations.
Mr. Greenberg was chairman
of the Temporary Operating
Committee which organized and
guided the operation of the
Workshop during its trial opera-
tions, before becoming estab-
lished as a formal agency.
Other Workshop officers are
Theodore Bargman and Fred E.
Schwab, vice presidents; Morris
Lewis, secretary; David M. Well-
ing, treasurer; Clarence L.
Ascher and Benjamin Gray, to-
gether with the officers, com-
prise the executive commitee.

On the board of trustees also
are Mrs. Stanley Akers, Joseph
Buegeleisen, Mrs. Arthur I.
Gould, Louis M. Hinderstein,
Milton M. Howard, Richard J.
Jacob, Lester Lapides, Morris'
Mondrow, Mrs. Morton Netzorg,
Mrs. Murry Robinson, Sigmund
Rohlik, Mrs. Victor Shiffman,
Gilbert B. Silverman, Edwin S.
Simon, Mrs. George M. Stutz,
Louis Tabashnik, and Seymour
S. Winokur. Samuel H. Rubiner
and Isidore Sobeloff, president
and executive director of the
Jewish Welfare Federation, are
ex-officio members.
The Workshop staff consists
of Albert Cohen, executive direc-
tor, who is also executive direc-
tor of the Jewish Vocational
Service; Joseph L. Weinberg, di-
rector of operations; Herbert L.
Lefkofsky, business representa-
tive; Max Galanter, foreman.
The Workshop is located in
the Fred M. Butzel Memorial
Building, 163 Madison: Persons
interested in placement in the
Workshop should apply to the
Jewish Vocational Service which
determines if the Workshop's
i program is needed by the
vidual.

Nations Jewish Telegraphic
Agency Bureau in Paris and
noted Israeli foreign corres-
pondent, Yehuda Hellman, will
be the main speaker at a com-
munity wide Israel Bond rally at
Beth Israel Synagogue in Flint,
Tuesday evening,, it was an-
nounced by Louis Kasle, general
chairman of the Flint Commit-
tee for State of Israel Bonds.

NEW YORK, (JTA)—President
Eisenhower sent a message of
congratulations to Congregation
Bnai Jeshurun, oldest Conserva-
tive synagogue in the United
States, which last week-end
marked its 130th anniversary.

MOrris Lieberman, Detroit at
torney and chairman of the lo-
cal Histadrut Campaign, was re-
cently elected to the national
board of the Israel Industrial
and Mineral Development Corp.,
an American investment com-
pany, which has been promoted
by AMPAL — American Israel
Corporation, with assets totaling
$35,000,000.
Lieberman has served for the'
past two years as chairman of
the annual AMPAL stockholders
meetings held in Detroit. The
company has equity in a num-
ber of important basic indus-
tries in Israel, and is planning
future additional capitalization
which will aid the Jewish state's
economic development.

Aesculapian Auxiliary
To Install New Officers

The Women's Auxiliary of the
Aesculapian Pharmaceutical As-
sociation will hold its annual
