NEW YORK, (JTA)-The rate
of cervical, cancer among Jewish
women is only one-fifth to one-
tenth that among non-Jewish
white women in New York City,
according to reports delivered to
the annual meeting here of the
American Cancer Society.
Dr. Ernest L. Wynder of the
Sloan - Kettering Institute, re-
ported that a woman whose hus-
band is not circumcised, has a
two-and-a-half times greater
risk of developing cervical can-
cer than the once - m a r r i e d
woman whose husband is cir-
cumcised.
Linking high incidence of cer-
vical cancer with poor sex hy-
giene, Dr. Wynder reported that
circumcision "greatly facilitates
sex hygiene in the male" and
concluded that the "most prac-
tical measure of obtaining good
self-hygiene would be universal
circumcision."
