2 New Poetic Works
By Kalman Heisler
Eisenhower Names Rabb
Secretary to Cabinet
Kalman Heisler, well known
Yiddish poet, has to his credit
two new works - a full length
volume of verses and a paper-
covered poetic tribute to Israel.
"Oz Yoshir Kalman Heisler"
is a 16-page collection of poems,
in bi-lingual form of Hebrew-
Yiddish paeans in honor of the
Jewish state. This collection has
a poem in tribute to Chanah
Szenesh, verses in honor and in
memory of Dov Gruner, Helmuth
Hirsch and others.
"Meine Kumarner Nebech" is
a collection of poems about his
birthplace, the "shtetel Ku-
marke," and its recollections evi-
dence his nostalgic memories.
Here, too, he honors Jewish
heroes and some famous names
in Jewish history.
Heisler's works are the results
of labors of love. It is clear that
it lives in his thoughts, that he
cherishes the memories of child-
hood, the love of Zion, the loyal-
ty to his people.
His books can be ordered from
him by writing to 2036 Hudson
Blvd., Jersey City, N.J.
WASHINGTON, (JTA)-Presi-
dent Eisenhower has appointed
Maxwell M. Rabb of Boston to
the newly created post of Secre-
tary to the Cabinet.

tive assistant to Henry Cabot
Lodge, Jr., when Mr. Lodge was
a Senator from Massachusetts.
Mr. Rabb's function under the
new set-up will be to prepare
an agenda for Cabinet meetings
and to take note, during the
meetings, of decisions taken by
the President and his executive
advisors, and to follow up _for
reports where they are required.
In 1953 and 1954 Mr. Rabb was
chairman of the Government
Workers Division of the United
Jewish Appeal of Greater Wash-
ington.

AGREEMENT WITH RSO
Nazism Still Called
Danger in Germany
BOSTON, (JTA)-The average
German "still has refused to face
the problem of Nazism square-
ly," the Christian Science Mon-
itor said in an article on trends
in German public opinion. It
noted that "much in West Ger-
many's moral atmosphere is con-
ducive to keep him in confu-
sion and receptive to the bland-
hments of irresponsible indi-
iduals."
The article by Ernest S. Pisko,
warned against a misconception
that "a relapse into nazistic
thinking will show in a cam-
paign against the some 18,000
German and some 7,000 foreign
Jews living in West Germany"
or can be judged by the holding
of seats in the Federal Parlia-
ment or State Diets.
"A campaign against the 25,-
000 Jews in Germany is not in
the books-certainly not in their
immediate chapters," the article
declared. "Most of these 25,000
are elderly people. They • live in
modest and in many cases less
than modest circumstance's,
Only a few of them hold posi-
tions that could bring them to
public attention.
"If the Nazis expect to reap
any return from anti-Semitic
propaganda, it is obvious that
they would haVe to resume whip-
ping the old Hitler stand-by of
`world Jewry' and its conspiracy
against the "Aryan race.' They
have been doing just that."
LONDON, (JTA)-The Associ-
ation of Jewish Refugees in
Great Britain announced the
reaching of an agreement be-
fr tween the Association and the
Jewish Restitution Successor Or-
ganization for the return to the
JRSO of the Association's Coun-
cil for Jews from Germany. The
Association expressed the hope
