The faces of Mumfordites
leaving school last Tuesday ex-
pressed either extreme sorrow
or gladness.. It was report card
day. It also reminded us that
final exams are just around the
corner.
The Mumford orchestra, band,
chorus, girls' glee club, and solo-
ists were some of the partici-
pants of the Christmas Concert
that was given in the auditorium
Wednesday and Thursday. All
who were fortunate enough to
attend found them inspiring.
"Are you running for Student
Council?" was a question asked
by all last week as petitions and
primary elections occured. Mon-
day, the rallies will be held, and
on Dec. 21 final elections will
be held. Already many zany hats,
signs, and other gimmicks have
been seen walking down the
halls of M.H.S.

Jewish Who's Who
Due in January

The overwhelining majoriity of ml
outstanding personalities of Jew-
ish origin throughout the world,
in all fields of endeavor, are not
I only willing but eager to be iden-
tified publicly as Jews, according
to a report by Harry Schneider-
man, chairman of the editorial
board of the first authoritative
Who's Who in World Jewry,
which has been fully compiled
and will be published in January.
In gathering the 11,000 bio-
graphies of prominent living
Jews from all parts of the,
world, Mr. Schneiderman said,
the editorial board had to sift
through thousands upon thou-
sands of names suggested by or-
ganizations, scholarly institu-
tions and cooperating commit-
tees in the U. S. and overseas.
These suggestions were nar-
rowed down to the individuals
deemed appropriate for inclu-
sion in the volume because of
their achievements in govern-
ment, science, the arts, business,
scholarship, civic welfare, en- ui
tertainment or other fields, and
each individual was contacted
for biographical details.
The volume, consisting of 1,200
two-column pages, will contain,
in addition to the 11,000 biogra-
phies of Jews in 65 countries, a
complete directory of Jewish or-
ganizations and periodicals
throughout the world. The first
edition, now being printed, is
