Sephardic Community Plans Hanukah Event

The Sephardic Jewish Com-
munity of Detroit will hold its
first Hanukah party at 2 p.m.,
Sunday, at the Twelfth Street
Council Center, Twelfth and
Blaine.
Featured will be a Hanukah
play, in which participants will
be Gail Chicorel, Michael Cicur-
el, David Gattegno, Earl Ishbia,
Jacob Ishakis, Joseph Papo,
Sharon Papo, Sander Papo, Lar-
iy Sibrack, Gerald Sibrack, San-
dra Quinn and Ronald Sima.
Shirley Chicorel is director.

The Hanukah candles will be
lit by Larry Sibrack and Jacob
Ishakis, both students of He-
brew. Surprise gifts will be given
all the youngsters, and refresh-
ments will be served.
Officers of the organization
include Louis Papo, president;
Max Cicorel, vice-president;
Shirley Chicorel, secretary; Mrs.
Sylvia Sima, treasurer; and
Shirley Benadaret, corr. secre-
tary.

formed that new government
regulations provide that each
synagogue in the country shall
be governed by an elected coun-
cil.
In some cases at present, one
community council may have

gogues. For such synagogues the
government has ordered elec-
tions in January so that each
may have its own responsible
governing body.
