Greece Ratifies the UN
Genocide Convention
BONN, (JTA)—A complete ex-1
emption from taxes for indem-1
nification payments made to
Nazi victims has been approved
by the Federal Council, upper
house of the German Parlia-
ment, and will enter into effect
Jan. 1.
The measure, which had been
introduced by the Social Demo-
crats and opposed by Minister
Fritz Schaeffer's Bonn Ministry
of Finance, is only one of numer-
ous tax exemptions and tax
slashes voted for other groups.
Until now, many types of com-
pensation were subject to a "re-
troactive income tax" computed
at a flat rate of 10 percent.
UNITED NATIONS, N.Y.,
(JTA)—Greece deposited its rat-
ification. of the United Nations
Convention Against Genocide.
This brings the number of states
ratifying the document to 48.

If you don't think it's a worn-
an's world, just talk to Elaine
Berman and she'll convince you.
Miss Berman, a senior in the
college of liberal arts at Wayne
University, is a radio and tele-
vision major, and as a sidelight
is women's editor of radio sta -
tion WDET-FM.
In addition to a flock of other
chores, Miss Berman is respon-
sible for the "Woman's World"
program, which emanates from
WDET at 5:30 p.m., each Friday..
The station is Wayne Univer-
sity's own radio station.
On the program, Miss Berman
comments on women's fashions,
offers helpful household hints,
tells about women in the news
and often interviews them. Vis-
iting educators, prominent worn-
en visiting Detroit and local
women of interest all fall into
Miss Berman's orbit of commen-
tary:
Occasionally, Miss Berman
finds time for an appearance on
one of the local TV or radio
shows, and has frequently ap-
peared, as an actress, on "Traf-
fic Court."
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Mark L. Berman, of 2722 Webb,
Miss Berman will graduate from
Wayne in June. She plans to en-
ter the radio and television - field
following graduation. •
