Community Council Reviews Recent

"It is not sufficient Merely to
cheer past accomplishments,"
Rabbi Morris Adler declared be-
fore an overflow crowd at the
seasons opening delegate as-
sembly of the Jewish Commun-
ity Council, at Workmen's Circle,
Nov. 16. As the featured speaker
at the asembly, the last to be
held before Rabbi and Mrs. Ad-
ler's departure for Israel. Rabbi
Adler posed questions for which
he stated the Jewish community
will seek answers if it is to sur-
vive as a vital, yet integrated,
group in America.
More than 150 of the Council's
affiliated organizations were
represented at the Assembly.
They were , welcomed by the
Council president, Sidney M.
Shevitz, who stated that these
essemblies provide the oppor-
tunity for consultations and de-
cisions of the community as pre-
sented by organizational dele- -
gates.

of Judge Justine Polier, presi-
dent of the Women's Division of
the American Jewish Congress
and national vice president of
the parent Congress organiza-
tion, is being arranged by the
international relations commit-
tee of the Jewish Community
Council of Detroit for Wednes-
day, Dec. 8, 2:15 p.m., at the
Tuller Hotel, Sidney M. Shevitz,

Levin, chairman of internal re-
lations, announced.
Judge Polier, daughter of the
late Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, has
long been active in Jewish and
general communal activities.
