Goldstein Picked for Basketball Honors Ralph Goldstein, University of Detroit's flashy guard, has been selected by a national magazine for all-sectional honors for the coming season. Detroit is in the Missouri Valley conference and the independents in. the Mid- lands. As sophomore last year, Gold- stein was part of guard com- bination which now rates as one of the best outer court pair in the Missouri Valley. Standing 5'11" at 165 • pounds, .Ralph's teammate at guard is Dan Hal- ling, a 5'10" speedser from Chi- cago. A shifty floor man, Goldstein was . second in the scoring col- umn on the Titan squad last year with 343 points, and he received honorable mention in the rugged basketball loop of the Missouri Valley conference. Goldstein is expected to be a leading spark in the Titans" bid for the conference title, and this year's basketball .race in'the Missouri Valley conference looms, as one of the toughest in the country with Wichita and St. Louis rated the top contenders and Detroit, Tulsa, Oklahoma A&M and Houston all boasting improved ball clubs.' The Titans open the season Dec. 1 against Asumption lege which also has every man back from the squad which won 17 and lost only five last, year.
