Local Pioneer Women Moving Toward
$1,500,000 National Fund-Raising Goal

Members of the Detroit Coun-
cil of Pioneer Women are in the
final stages of the season's ma-
jor fund-raising campaign. All
18 local chapters are endeavor-
ing to fulfill their quotas in the
national $1,500,000 goal, an-
nounced Mrs. David Colman,
Council vice-president of funds.
According to Mrs. Saul Rose,

Floating Drydock
Is Planned at Haifa

TEL AVIV — A special chan-
nel may be dredged in the
Kishon River estuary for the
mooring of the new floating dry-
: dock which arrived at Haifa this
week after a 4,000 mile journey
from the North Sea port of Lue-
beck, it was learned in Haifa
Tuesday.
The dock, valued at about $2,-
000,000, was turned over to Israel
as German reparations payment.
It will be manned by 70 workers,
most of them recent immigrants
from Tunis who are presently
working at other clock jobs. At
its temporary mooring place the
floating drydock has displaced
three vessels formerly tied up
there. The dock, expected to be
in operation by next September.

newly-elected officers at a pro-
