Windsor Jewish Community to Honor
Frances Geller at Dinner Nov. 21

In recognition of her services
to the Jewish community and
to all worthy Jewish causes, Miss
Frances Geller will be honored
by the Windsor Jewish commu-
nity at a testimonial dinner,
Sunday, Nov. 21, in the Crystal
Ball Room of the Prince Ed-
ward Hotel.
Miss Geller is generally con-
sidered the "First Lady of the
"Windsor Jewish Community."
Long before the community was

sional welfare services, she an-
swered the' need for such serv-
ices. Her home became the focal
point of all local, national and
overseas ca-uses. Many distin-
guished visitors enjoyed her hos-
pitality, including Dr. Shmarya
Levin and Dr. Ludwig Lewisohn.
She was equally ardent and
devoted in her civic activities.
During World War II she was
a full-time volunteer worker for
the Red Cross. No matter how
inclement the weather, she was
never absent from the work-
shbp. She also was active in
the Government Training School
for Girls.
Miss Geller organized the first
Zionist group in Windsor in 1920
—the Lillian Friemah Chapter of
Haclassah. She also organized
Hadassah's Leamington Chapter
and the Chatham Chapter which
bears her name. She was the
moving force for many years of
the Hebrew Ladies Aid Society.
She was chairman fOr many
years of the Women's Division
of the Windsor Welfare Cam-
paign and became known as a
None-woman organization" for
her unselfish and untiring ef-
forts as a campaign solicitor and
golleetor.
In recognition of her devotion
to communal endeavors, Jewish
and non-Jewish, the Jewish com-
munity of Windsor will dedicate
the Frances Geller ROOM in. the

Society, Nov. 16, at the Detroit
Engineering Society.
Mr. Redstone will speak on
"South American Architecture
— Picturesque Past and Dyna-
mic Present" and will illustrate
his talk with color slides taken
recently while a member of a
study group sponsored by the
American Institute of Architects.
Ben Wilk, president of the
local Technion chapter, extends
a welcome to members and
friends to hear this talk.
Mr. Wilk will report on the
work currently being done by
the Society on behalf of the
Technion in Haifa, Israel.

esting places, filmed by Rabbi
and Mrs. Moses Lehrman during
their recent trip to Israel, will
be shown at a joint meeting of
Bnai Moshe Men's Club and
Sisterhood, Wednesday, 8 3 0
p.m., in the social hall of the
congregation. Rabbi Lehrman
will offer a running commen-
tary on the film.
"A Salute to Past Presidents"
will be presented by the Sister-
hood in commemoration of its
38th anniversary. All living past
presidents will be honored for
their services to the congrega-
tion's auxiliary, with a special
ceremonial, at this meeting.
