Windsor Residents Set
January -Wedding Date

Artists Colony Slated at Temple Israel
Sisterhood's 4th Annual Antique Fair

The fourth annual antique
fair of the Temple Israel Sister-
hood will open at 12 noon, Nov.
14, and will continue through
Nov. 1'7, at the temple, Mander-
son and Merton Rds. Fair hours
will be from 12 noon to 10 p.m.,
daily.
Mrs. Barney Israel, chairman
of the fair, announces that 28
dealers, including some from
out-state, will feature displays

antique jewelry,
fine wood pieces
and primitives.
A n "Artists'
Colony" will be
established, fea-
turing some of
Michigan's most
capable artists. .
Among those Mrs. Israel
whose works will be displayed
are Harold Cohn, Arthur C.
Danto, Cyril Miles, Josephine
Immerman Bloom and Marvin
Beerbohm.

Walt Speck, well-known cera-
mist, will display items from his
collection. Another feature will
be pastel paintings of children
by the artists at a nominal fee
Mrs. Israel will be assisted by
Mrs. Harry Coleman, while in
charge of home-made luncheons
and dinners to be served shop-
pers will be Mrs. Harry Fisher,
assisted by Mesdames Joseph
Wain, Arthur Weber, Irving
Wartell and Ellis Fishman.
A program has been prepared
by Mrs. Irving Wolfe, and Mrs.
Dore Novitz, and Mrs Norman
Noble and Mrs. Dan Krouse ar.
in charge of ticket sales. Mrs.
Morton Barris is finance chair-
man.
Mrs. Robert Coggan, Sister-
hood president, stated that
work on the antique fair is co-
ordinated by Mrs. Max Klarin,
vice-president of ways and
means. Proceeds, she added, will
help to construct the proposed
temple activities building for
which the temple has set a
$200,000 goal.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mirsky,
of Windsor, Ont., announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Jean, to Philip Bakst, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Sewel Bakst, also of
Windsor.
The bridegroom -elect is a
graduate of the Detroit Institute I
of Technology college of phar-
macy where he was affiliated I

Guest List Announced
For Bnai Brith Washington Dinner

A majority of the Justices of
the Supreme Court have ac-
cepted invitations to attend the
Bnai Brith dinner to be held
at the Mayflower Hotel, Wash-
ington, on Sunday.
Congressmen, cabinet mem-
bers, diplomats and stars of the
stage and screen are among
other celebrities who will be pre-
sent as Bnai Brith celebrates
ground-breaking for its new na-
tional headquarters building in
the nation's capital.
Chief Justice Earl Warren will
be the principal speaker. His
address will be preceded by an
historical dramatic sketch spe-
cially written for the occasion,
and vocal selections by Metro-
politan Opera star Herva Neill.
A portion of the program will
be broadcast over the coast-to-
coast network of the Muttal
Broadcasting System from 10:30
to 11 p.m. "Listening parties"
and special meetings are being
arranged by hundreds of Bnai
Brith lodges and • chapters
throughout the country.

France; Hughes Le Gillais, Min-

Registration is still being ac-
cepted for the College of Corn-
bined Jewish Studies, sponsored
by Temple Israel and Temple
Beth El. The first session was
held Monday, and subsequent
classes will continue at 8 p.m.,
each Monday, at Temple Israel.

Edelman to Address
Folk Schools PTA

MISS RAECHEL MODELL

Joseph Edelman, director of
internal relations and the cul-
tural commission of the Jewish
Community Council will address
a meeting of the United Jewish
Folk Schools- PTA at 8:30 p.m.,
Thursday, at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Kaminsky, 3224
Leslie.
Edelman's topic will be "Jew-
ish Holidays and the Public
Schools."
Parents of student and in-
terested friends are. invited to
the program and to a social
hour which will follow. Mrs. B.
Kaminsky, PTA chairman, states
that this will be the first of a
series of similar lectures planned
during the school year.

The engagement of Raechel
Modell to Leonard M. Nagel was
recently announced by the bride-
elect's parents, Mr, and Mrs. Sol
Modell, formerly of Windsor,
now of Tuxedo Ave. The bride-
groom-to-be is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Nagel, of Elmhurst
Ave.
Mr. Nagel, a recent graduate
of the Detroit Institute of Tech-
nology, is presently in the U.S.
Armed Forces. The wedding will
be solemnized in the near future.
