• This action on the part of the
Tourist Council culminates a
long series of representations
made to the state-financed
agency by the Jewish Commu-
nity Council and the Michigan
Regional office of Anti-Defama-
tion League. The Tourist Coun-
cil had previously agreed to the
policy that resorts which either
distribute discriminatory liter-
ature or actually discriminate on
the basis of race or religion,
would not be eligible for the
promotional assistance of the
Tourist Council. In the most
recent instance it was deter-
mined that the Bachunas re-
sorts distributed literature con-
taining such phrases as "Gentile
only" and other discriminatory
language.
Morris Zwerdling, acting for
the Council and the ADL, called
the attention of the Tourist
Council to Bachunas' violations
and action came as a conse-
quence of this protest.
