Salo' Services Planned
By City's Congregations

Sukkot — the Harvest Festival
or Feast of the Booths—will be
ushered in with services in our
synagogues on Monday evening,
Oct. 11, with morning services
scheduled for Tuesday and Wed-
nesday, Oct. 12 and 13.
Following is a schedule of
services for the holiday in our
city's synagogues:
Cong. Ahavas Achim
Sukkot services begin at 6 p.m.
Monday, with morning services
both days planned fOr 8:45 a.m.
Rabbi Jacob M. Chinitz will
preach on Tuesday, on "Imper-
manency of Life," while on Wed-
nesday his sermon topic will be
"The Four Species of Jews."
Cantor Mendel Stawis will offi-
ciate at all services.
A sukkah has been erected
next to the synagogue, and is
available to all worshippers to
make kiddush. A Sukkot party
for 300 children in the Sunday
school is planned Tuesday,
following services, to which all
neighborhood youngsters are
invited.
Beth Aaron Synagogue
Evening services will be held
at 5,:30 p.m., with services the
next two days scheduled for 8:45
a.m. Rabbi Benjamin H. Gorre-
rick will speak on "The Secret
of Happiness" and "Living With
Other People." Cantor Judah
GOldring will conduct the* ritual.
Alarge Sukkah will be used as
part , of the ritual for . the sea-
son. Fruits and flowers decorat-
ing the Sukkah have been pre-
pared by the Sisterhood,
Temple Beth El
Sukkot services are scheduled
Tor 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at which
Rabbi Minard Klein will deliver
the sermon. The annual conse-
creation service for newly-en-
rolled children in the religious
school will be hel dat 11 a.m.,
Oct. 17.
Temple Israel
Worship will begin at 10:30
a.m., Tuesday, in celebration of
Sukkot, with Dr. Leon Fram,

ny of the blessing of children
newly-enrolled in the religiotis
school.

Sukkot services are planned
for 5:45 p.m., Monday, with
Tuesday and Wednesday serv-
ices beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Junior services on both days
will be held at 10 a.m., in the
Block Chapel. Rabbi Hayim
Donin and Cantor Hyman J.
Adler will officiate.

Monday services begin at 6
p.m., with subsequent evening
services slated for 5:40 p.m. and
morning services at 9 a.m. Rab-
bi Moses Lehrman will preach
on "How to Rejoice" and
"Friends and Associates." Cantor
David Katzman will chant the
service.
The traditional Sukkah will be
erected in the courtyard of the
synagogue, and will be decor-
ated by the Sisterhood.

Evening services Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday are
scheduled for 5:45 p.m., with
morning services Tuesday and
Wednesday at 9 a.m. Rabbi Is-
rael I. Halpern will preach the
sermons.
Northwest Israel Synagogue
"The Message of Sukkot" and
"The Symbol of Sukkot" are the
topics chosen by Rabbi Leo Y.
Goldman for holiday services.

Adas Shalom Synagogue
Services will be held at 5:30
p.m., Monday and Tuesday,
with services Tuesday and
Wednesday beginning at 8:30

officiate. A Sukkah will be
erected outside the building
for Kiddush.
Cong. Mishkan Israel
Rabbi Isaac Stollman will
speak on Tuesday, the first day
of Sukkot, on "The Four Species
—Symbol of Peace and Under-
standing."
Cong. Bnai Zion
At Wednesday services, Rabbi
Isaac Stollman will . deliver the
sermon on "The Sukkah—Sym-
bol of Jewish Survival."

The event yearly serves as the
traditional means of opening
the social season of synagogue
activities following the High
Holy Days, state Mrs. Sol Bao-

of Sisterhood and Men's Club,

Pontiac Bnai Israel
Slates Dinner-Dance

The annual Simhat Torah din-
ner-dance scheduled by Cong.
Bnai Israel of Pontiac will be
held at 6 p.m., Oct. 24, in the
synagogue social hall.
Highlights of the evening will
be the installation of congrega-
tional officers and a welcome
home to Meyer Simon, president,
and Mrs. Simon, who have spent
the holidays in Israel and prior
to that visited in Europe.
To be installed with Simon are
Irwin Kampner and Milton
Ressler, vice-presidents; Sam
Levin, treasurer; Alvin Jacobson
and Mel, Goldman, secretaries;
and Sam Toby, Charles Eilender,
Edward Blumeno, Sol Newhouse
and George Surowitz, board
members.
The dinner, under the spon-
sorship of the Men's Club, Jos-
eph Jacobson, chairman, is open

Beth Aaron to Hold
Semi-Annual Meeting

The semi-annual meeting of
Beth Aaron Synagogue will take
place at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday,
in the synagogue, according to
Jack Shenkman, president and
Jack L. Greenblatt, secretary.
The meeting will include an
official welcome to the members
who have joined the synagogue
recently, reports by all commit-
