For A Happy Life And Peace
O n Rosh Hashanah, syna-
gogues and temples everywhere will
echo with this New Year's supplica-
tion :
May we and all Israel Thy peo-
ple be remembered and inscribed be-
fore Thee in the book of life and bless-
ing, peace and prosperity, for a happy
life and peace.
Think what those words will
mean to the 1,500,000 Jews of Israel
—half of them refugees you helped to
bring to freedom through the United
Jewish Appeal.
In their six year effort to achieve
peace and life for themselves and
those who will come, Israel's people
have endured bitter war, want and
every kind of hardship.
Yet they are as determined as
ever to win their struggle. They mean
to build more settlements, establish
more irrigation projects, cultivate
more acreage and make their land
economically independent.
Today the people of Israel are
half-way to their aim of self-suffl-
clency. But to go all the way—to reach
their democratic goals—they must
continue to have your help.
So this Rosh Hashanah—remem-
ber those who strive for life and peace.
Give through your local campaign—to
the U&w Appeal.
