To Harvey Saperstein

Miss Penny Isaacs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Isaacs
of La Salle Blvd., has returned from a three month tour which
included stopovers in Amsterdam, Holland, Paris, France and a
Mediterranian cruise to Israel where she studied and traveled for
seven weeks as a member of the Israel Summer Institute.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Bordman, of Woodingham Dr., enter-
tained last week in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Krown, of Los
Angeles, Calif. The Krowns passed through Detroit en route to
Europe and Israel for a year's travel.
A buffet dinner party was given recently in honor of the 40th
wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. P. Krut. The party, given
by the Krut's children, was attended by 85 guests, and was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Levine, of 24030 Jerome, Oak Park,
Mich. Lauren Sue Levine celebrated her ninth birthday at the
same event.
Leon Olshansky, president of the Jewish Center's Young
Adult Council, has returned from the recent National Jewish Youth
Conference, held Sept. 3 to 9, at Cejwin Camps, Port Jervis, N.Y.
The conference was sponsored by the National Jewish Welfare
Board.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Beerbohm, 2903 Elmhurst Ave., cele-
brated their golden wedding anniversary August 29 with a dinner
at Holiday Manor given in their honor by their children, Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Katser and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Beerbohn. Their oldest
grandson, Arthur Katser, was Bar Mitzvah the previous day. Mar-
ried in Toronto, the couple has resided in Detroit for 25 years.
The son and daughter of Rev. and Mrs. N. H. Tanenbaum have
left Detroit to return to school. Isaac will study in the Yeshivah
at Cleveland and Eva at New York University.
Miss Gertrude Shisler, who was a visitor of Mrs. Rae Urnovitz,
of Monterey Ave., has left Detroit to visit relatives in Chicago.
Mr.and Mrs. Abraham Metzger, of Sturtevant Ave., left re-
cently aboard the SS United States for an extended trip to Europe
and Israel. Attending a bon voyage party aboard the ship prior
to Its departure were Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Metzger and Miss Raye
Metzger.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Krut, of Cortland Ave., were honored at a
recent social given by Lachowitcher Aid Society in honor of their
40th wedding anniversary. Meyer Levin was toastmaster, and
called upon all the guests present to toast the couple.
Recent Detroit guests at Oakton Manor Resort on the shores
of Lake Pewaukee, Wis., were Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Keller, of 3310
Rochester.
The Misses Betty Monheit and Goldie Goldstein will leave Sept.
29 aboard the S.S. Liberte for a European vacation. They will
visit England, France, Italy and Switzerland.

Mr, and Mrs. Joseph Grossman,
of Huntington Rd., Huntington
Woods, Mich. The bridegroom's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Jaffe, of Fairfield Ave. Rabbi Ja-
cob E. Segal and Cantor Nicho-
las Fenakel officiated at the
double-ring ceremony.
The bride's attendants were
Mrs. Robert Rosenzweig, Mrs.
Peter Copeland, Barbara Lebo-
witz and Carolyn Goode. Nancy
Robins and Suzan Lebowitz were
flower girls. Gilbert Galen was
best man, and ushers included
Stuart Jaffe, the bridegroom's
brother, and Lt. Gordon Gross-
man, brother of the bride.
Following a dinner, the young
couple left for a honeymoon in
the East. They will make their
home in Ann Arbor following
their return to the city.
Attending the ceremony from
out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs.
Hyman B. Ullian, of Newton,
Mass.; Mrs. Abraham S. Ullian,
of Brockton, Mass.; Mrs. S. Lar-
son, of New York; and Lt. Gross-
man, presently stationed at
Newport, R. I.

Purity Chapter to Hold
Birthday Dinner Sept. 30

Purity Chapter, Order of East-
ern Star, will celebrate its 47th
birthday with a dinner at 6 p.m.,
Sept. 30, at Eastern Star Tem-
ple, 80 W. Alexandrine.
An initiatory ceremony will
follow dinner at 7:45 p.m., and
the degrees will be exemplified
by past matrons and past pat-
rons. Ann Grossman is the pres-
ent worthy matron and I. Herb-
ert Grossman is worthy patron.

marital vows in a candle-light,
double-ring ceremony Aug. 29,
at Temple. Israel. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Hyrr an Silverman. The bride-
groom's parents are Mr. and
Mrs. Red Saperstein.
The new Mrs. Saperstein wore
a white, chantilly lace and satin
gown, and carried a Bible cov-
ered with orchids.
Georgina Silverman,. sister of
the bride, was maid of honor,
and bridesmaids were Lyn Sa-
perstein, the bridegroom's sister,
Margery Green, Helen Saper-
stein and Susan Mann. Mrs.
Faith Levin was matron of
hbnor.
Melvyn Saperstein was his
brother's best man, and ushers
included Herbert Miller, Marvin
Lichtenstein, Herbert Saperstein.:

Following a dinner and recep-
tion, the newlyweds left for a

Detroit now has one of this,
most luxurious men's health
clubs in the country, at the
new Sidney-Hill Northwest Club
which opened Monday at 13333
West Eight Mile Road, east of
Schaefer.
The new clubhouse incorpor-
ates ideas gathered by. Sid Sid-
ney from studies of health clubs
not only in the United States
but in Europe as well.
Finland contributes the idea
of the famed rock mineral steam
bath, incorporated in the new
Sidney-Hill Club in a special
steam r o o m with elevated
bleacher-type seats.
The new building features a
25 by 50 foot therapeutic pool
with a maximum depth of 5 1/2
feet. Glass doors leading from
the pool on a landscaped. patio
equipped with steamer chairs
where sunbathing can be enjoy-
ed during the summer months.
The new building designed
and built to Sid Sidney's own
specifications is 125 feet wide
and 130 feet deep, with all de-
partments located on one- floor.
Each member will admit him-
self by his own personal key. A
parking area provides space for
250 cars and attendants „on duty
at the club entrance will park
members' cars and bring them
to the door when desired.
In the comprehensive facili-
ties are a 14 by 15 foot hot room
with infra-red radiation capa-
ble of reaching a. temperature
of 170 degrees, diathermy room
and infra-red department for
physiotherapy, sun room with
newest ultra-violet ray therapy
equipment for achieving a sun
tan, massage room with 18
tables, staffed with 20 expert
masseurs, and an exercise room
Limited guest privileges are
offered to members, and mem-
bers' sons from 5 to 15 years
old, will be permitted to use the
swimming pool Saturday morn-
ings.
The new club is open from
10 a.m. until midnight Mondays
through Thursdays and until 8
o'clock on Fridays and Satur-
days,
