that the government of Jordan
intended to announce the dis-
missal of Glubb Pasha, on which
an offer of alliance from Saudi
Arabia was said to have been
made conditional. The Arab
people, Cairo radio commented,
would never forget that Glubb
had ordered the withdrawal of
Jordan's army from Palestine,
allowing the Jews to occupy
strategic positions from which
they were able to besiege the
Egyptians.
