Seminar Sessions

Dr. ISRAEL GOLDSTEIN, associate chairman of the American
Jewish Tercentenary, (left) is shown with Dr. WILLEM DREES,
Prime Minister of the Netherlands, at their recent meeting in The
Hague, during which plans for the celebration of the 300th anni-
versary of Jewish settlement in America were outlined to the
Dutch leader. At this meeting, Dr. Goldstein extended greetings of
the National Tercentenary Committee to the Royal House, the
government and people of the Netherlands "in grateful acknow-
ledgment of Holland's centuries-old policy of racial and religious
tolerance, which made it possible for the Jlrst Jewish settlers to
establish themselves in New Amsterdam in September, 1654, laying
the foundations on which succeeding groups have built so well
under the auspices of American democracy."
