ter, Eleanor Lee, to Lee E.
Schott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mar-
tin S. Schott, of Kentucky Ave-
nue. Lee is a senior at Wayne
University, where, he is major-
ing in advertising, and is affili-
ated with Mu Beta Chi frater-
nity.

To Install New Officers

The Men's Club of Cong. Bnai
Moshe will install its recently-
elected officers and directors at
an installation dance, to be held
at 8:30 p.m., Sept. 11, in the
synagogue social hall.
Alfred L. Deutsch, congrega-
tional president will install the

Rabbi M. Robert Syme, assist-
ant rabbi of Temple Israel, will
be the guest speaker, and will re-
view a current book of interest
before the group. Rabbi Leon

Louis E. Barden, Detroit at-
torney and one of this city's
most loyal workers for Bnai
Brith, will receive the annual
Ivan S. Bloch Merit Award on
Sept. 12, at a luncheon in the
Detroiter Hotel.
Announcement of selection of
Barden was made by Henry
Wald, president of the Bloch
Lodge, of Bnai Brith.
During World
War II, Barden
served in the
Judge Advo-
cate's office of
Gen. Omar
Bradley's 1 2 t h
Army group
headquar ters,
and r e c eived
five battle stars:
for participation
in major cam-
paigns in Eur-
ope, as well as
the Bronze Star
for meritorious
service.
Barden
After returning from service,
Barden helped organize Tikvah
Lodge, Bnai Brith, and served
as its first president. Under his
editorship in 1953, the Tikvah
Trumpet, the Lodge's own pub-
lication, won first prize in the
national lodge bulletin contest.
Barden is district co-
chairman of the service com-
mittee for armea forces and vet-
erans. He is a contributor to
each Bnai Brith blood rally, and
has convinced many others of
the need to give blood.
Barden has served as lodge
deputy to Morgenthau, Donald
Fox, Israel, Gershwin and Rex
Lodges, and is currently assigned
to that post with the Detroit
Lodge. He has held many offices
in the Detroit Bnai Brith Coun-
cil, was recently elected as the
chairman of the board of trus-
tees and was recently named by
Council president Melvin Weisz
as chairman of the Institute of
Judaism.
In addition to many other
communal affairs, Barden is
active in Charles and Aaron
Kogan Post, Jewish War Veter-,
ans, Mosaic Lodge, F.&A.M.,
Adas Shalom Men's Club and
Detroit Police Emergency Re-
serve.
