Israel Repatriates
4,800 Arabs Since '48

JERUSALEM, (JTA)—More
than 4,800 Arabs have been
Mowed to settle in Israel be-
tween the establishment of the
State in 1948 and June 1,
1954, according to an official
announcement. Of the total
1,750 were from Jordan; ap-
proximately 2,270 from Leb-
anon; 150 from Syria; and 620
from Egypt. Since Jan. 1, 1951,
residence permits have been
issued to 1,200 Arabs who en-
tered Israel illegally.

For Labor Day Frolic

Plans for a fast-moving holi-
day weekend extending through
Labor Day have been announced
by Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Landis,
owners of Omena Inn, popular
Northern Michigan resort.
Special musical productions
will be staged at the Inn Play-
house, and will star such New
York luminaries as David Gard,
of "Top Banana" and "Make A
Wish" fame. Songs will be by
Harold and Wyn Landis, with
music by the Oniena Inn Or-
chestra.
Sports include baseball, hand-
ball, tennis, shuffleboard, volley-
ball, horseshoes, ping gong and
boating. Fishing is reported ex-
cellent on Omena Inn's private
lake, and swimming is from
Omena Inn's private beach on
the sandy shores of Grand Trav-
erse Bay.
Social events will incltide cus-
tomary midnight nash around
the samovar, Saturday evening
cocktail hour, game night, cab-
aret night, concert night, ama-
teur night and evening wienie
roasts on the beach. The famous
Omena Inn American-Jewish
cuisine features rolls and pastries
baked daily right on the prem-
ises.
Miss Sandy Gilbert and Rod
Landsman, children's counselors,
are in charge of the children's
program. Children play together,
are entertained together and eat
together in their own separate
dining room. A playground and
special swimming instruction
under the supervision of a pro-
fessional lifeguard are other
children's features.
